Fair use rationale for Image:SIM Logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:SIM Logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Change the Page title

[edit]

The Page Title should not be "Serving In Mission". It should simply be "SIM". Serving In Mission is a former trade name, but has never been the official name of the organization. Also Serving In Mission is no longer used by the Mission. Justified87 (talk) 03:50, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SIM is in use as a page title, so we'd need to use something to disambiguate the title. So we'd be looking at a title like SIM (organization). —C.Fred (talk) 03:47, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

SIM(organization) would work, but could it be SIM(Mission Agency).Justified87 (talk) 03:53, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New title needed

[edit]

The mission has always been known as SIM. This originally stood for Soudan Interior Mission and has gone through various name changes since then: Sudan Interior Mission, SIM, Société Internationale Missionnaire (in French-speaking countries) and Serving in Mission. Now it appears they are dropping "Serving in Mission" and going back to the simple initials SIM, which do not stand for anything.

The title of this article should therefore be changed to "SIM", but this is already a disambiguation page. Should the title therefore be:

  • SIM (Evangelical mission)
  • SIM (formerly Sudan Interior Mission)

or

  • SIM (formerly Serving in Mission)

I personally vote for the first choice. Does anyone else have a preference? --seberle (talk) 08:40, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

SIM (evangelical mission) is most in line with the guidelines. —C.Fred (talk) 17:50, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I note that dictionaries, such as wiktionary, use a lower case letter, but common usage is to use a capital. The Wikipedia article writes, 'Christian historian David Bebbington says, "Although 'evangelical', with a lower-case initial, is occasionally used to mean 'of the gospel', the term 'Evangelical', with a capital letter, is applied to any aspect of the movement beginning in the 1730s.' The article goes on to use a capital letter throughout. Not sure which way to go. Opinions? --seberle (talk) 06:05, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

This mission no longer goes by the name "Serving In Mission." They have reverted to simply using the initials as their official name. How should we handle this? seberle (talk) 04:35, 12 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

The article says, "The main headquarters is in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States." The international headquarters are actually in Fort Mill, SC, a bit outside of Charlotte, just across the NC/SC border. Shouldn't the more precise location be listed? --seberle (talk) 04:56, 5 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
