West Coast Pop

This is what is currently listed in Rey's moveset:

West Coast Pop (Springboard Seated Senton)

The West Coast Pop I believe is a springboard hurricanrana into a pin, not a seated senton. Why was it changed? 172.215.46.78 22:41, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Vandalism

I really dislike Rey, but I've just had to revert god knows how much vandalism on this page. Is there no kind of protection, at least from unregistered users that can be implemented? I wouldn't mind, but it ain't even funny vandalism (and believe me there IS such a thing!) Holypeanut 17:02, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

I agree, its pretty ridiculous. For the past week every time I logged in and checked my watchlist I've found & reverted vandalism in this article. Th 2005 17:50, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

SUMMERSLAM

Rey used a modified version of the Diving Headbutt of Benoit, possibly as a tribute to him. the difference is that it ended in a plancha and pin. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.145.9.25 (talk) 16:32, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

Someone has put that Rey is coming to TNA in Mid 2008, will someone delete that please?

Cruiserweight titles

Okay, is it 8 or 3 reigns? I'd always assumed that even though the current WWE Cruiserweight title is combined with the WCW Cruiserweight title and old WWF Light heavyweight title, they're treated as seperate titles in the history of the championship - similar to what was done with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, which was the former WCW Heavyweight championship. On his WWE.com bio page they make multiple references to his, quote, "eight Cruiserweight championships". However, I'd taken this as meaning eight different championships since it doesn't explicitly say "eight WWE Cruiserweight Championships". What's the verdict? Th 2005 19:39, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

3 time wwe Cruiserweight Champion, 5 times wcw Cruiserweight Champion 5 of them where in wcw only 3 in wwe but 8 i total. Its on his detalied tittle history on wwe.com http://www.wwe.com/superstars/smackdown/reymysterio/detailedtitlehistory Roosterrulez 23:45, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Kudos. At the time I posted the original message, people kept changing his WWE Cruiserweight championship reigns from 3 to 8. Th 2005 00:47, 8 September 2007 (UTC)

Achievements

According to his official website (http://www.reymysterio.com/main.htm, in addition to the listed titles, he is: A 3-time CIA( Cock in Ass ) Champion —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.175.201.62 (talk) 09:49, 22 September 2007 (UTC) A 5-time AAA Welterweight Champion. A 2-time AAA Light Heavyweight Champion. According to Wikipedia's own article on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards, he is also: "Best Flying Wrestler" '95, '96, '97,'02 '03 and '04. Rev. Vandalism

Once again the page has been vadalised, this time by someone stating Mysterio was found dead on July 25th. This is completely untrue and it was removed accordingly.Benzin 14:57, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Entro

Why doesn't Rey come up from the ground like he used too? Is it because of his leg injury? Bizub4 01:47, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Article Name

I think this article should be titles "Rey Mysterio" instead of "Oscar Gutierrez" because he is much better known by his ring name. This would keep it consistent with other wikipedia articles as well RealFerrari 05:06, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

It's not a big deal. There is another Rey Mysterio (senior), and if someone was to search for "Rey Mysterio" on Wikipedia they would be redirected to Oscar Gutierrez. Even Google leads searchers to this article when inputting "Rey Mysterio". --DlaeYou're quite the talker aren't you? 10:39, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Pickin' Da Dime

What happened to that? Wasn't that the move which sees Rey [619] then do a "falling" headbutt (or splash) from off the ropes? If you recap his finish at Summerslam 07 against Chavo Guerrero, the commentators called it "Pickin' the dime"...didn't they? DlaeYou're quite the talker aren't you?

I just searched on google aswell: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Rey+Mysterio+pickin+da+dime&hl=en Y'know, I'm gonna change it back now. It's supposedly the "springboard splash"; if anyone knows why it was changed, please reply here. --DlaeYou're quite the talker aren't you? 21:44, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Name

Isn't his real name Oscar Gutierrez Rubio? as that was what this article stated a while ago —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.142.11.223 (talk) 21:11, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Google seems to think so: http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=Oscar+Gutierrez+Rubio&meta=
Maybe it's not a significant part of his name, e.g importance of a middle name (one website recognises him as Oscar Gutierrez Gonzales) but still.. The references, such as Mysterio's official website, does not name him as that. DlaeYou're quite the talker aren't you? 22:14, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Lime build up in JBL's liver?

Found this in the 2006-2007 section of Mysterio's article...

"(in reality, JBL had lime build up in his liver that forced him to retire from the ring indefinitely)."

I cannot find any convincing evidence saying that JBL actually had lime build up in his liver which forced him to retire. Is this even accurate?

Tombell12 12:22, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for pointing that out. I've removed it since their was no verifiable source and therefore failed Wikipedia's policy on biographies of living people. Bmg916Speak 13:26, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

I've heard like twenty different reasons for his retirement, some including planning Benoit's murder-suicide. ---- Kaizer13 (talk) 21:10, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Personal life edit...

I fixed the broken cite that was supressing the first part of the SI article paragraph. I was just curious if there is really a necessity for footnote/cite concerning his tattoos, considering that they are plainly visible and as such really don't need to be "verified". Removing those would clean up that first part much nicer. I'll make the change, but feel free to revert if I missed something that requires it. Thanks! Enigmatic2k3 21:12, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Catholic Faith

Rey Mysterio is Catholic/Roman Catholic, whatever. How come "Roman Catholics" was removed in the categories section at the bottom of the page? deeds619 21:23, 16 December 2007 (UTC)

There's no reliable source included for that statement. See WP:RS. --Yamla (talk) 03:35, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
Where is the source that says Triple H is Catholic? He's in that category.

deeds619 1:32, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

References needed tag removal

I removed the additional references needed tag. This article seems pretty well sourced now. Tag was added when article only had 6 sources. Now has ~ 33.Angrymansr (talk) 15:57, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Article title change

I think the title of the article should be changed from Oscar Gutierrez to Rey Mysterio. Several other articles on professional wrestlers are titled as their ring name, not their real name, like Rob Van Dam, Tommy Dreamer, and Samoa Joe. Even the article on his uncle, Rey Misterio Sr., is titled as his ring name. More people know him as Rey Mysterio, not Oscar Gutierrez and i think it would be easier for people to find the article if it was titled Rey Mysterio.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Skilldog2 (talkcontribs)

If it hasn't been done already, there's gotta be a good reason. Then again, maybe not. Is there a link to a discussion about the page name somewhere or something? --Kaizer13 (talk) 11:53, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

West Cost pop is not one of his moves anymore

I read in WWE mag. that he said quote "Over the last few months I've droped alot of my moves ,like west cost pop." So i will be taking it of

He has used it as a finisher in the past so it should be included. Tywddle 21:19, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

A little late, I know, but worth mentioning; it's back now, as witnessed on the 2 Nov. edition of SmackDown! , acknowledged by commentators as he used it to pick up the win against Jamie Noble. RAW Set

In this article, it states that Rey was stuck on the RAW stage set when his leg was hit many times with the chair. But in this recent article on WWE.com, it states that it was a Smackdown lighting structure. Should this article be changed or remain the same? --Stotheb2010 13:33, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

It was a supershow taping, so the RAW set was redecorated as the SD set, both are correct. Darrenhusted 16:03, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
that night's supershow they used the stage for the whole event, it was the complete Raw Stage set, with the Raw stage ramp and the Raw Mini-Tron and Side-Trons/lights part. usually when WWE does a supershow, they don't use the ramp for the Raw part of the event due to some modification with the stage to put parts of the SmackDown! stage (which included the SmackDown! stage Mini-tron, and some of the broken mirrors things that the SD stage was famous for) because of the modifications, the Raw Mini-Tron and Side Tron/parts are not on the stage for the SmackDown! (and from 2006 and there on, ECW also featured the modified Raw stage.) so that's why Rey was hanging on the part of the Raw stage the night he lost the "I Quit" match to write him off of WWE TV.--Boutitbenza 69 9 (talk) 06:06, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Picture

Does anyone have a picture you took while he was unmasked? If so, add it to the article. He wrestled for over 2 years after losing his mask (he lost it at SuperBrawl IX in February 1999 and wouldn't wear a mask again until in debut in WWE in July 2001). TJ Spyke 05:53, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

Top rope splash

Lately, Rey has been using a Top rope splash after the 619. It is clearly not the frog splash, as he tucks his arms up next to him and free falls to hit the opponent. Can this be added into his finishers with the West coast pop, etc.? He uses it right after the 619. dR (talk) 02:50, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

It's a seated senton, and it's already listed there. TNA?

Err, Rey Mysterio signed with TNA? Where's the source for that? --Kaizer13 (talk) 08:08, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I think it is called vandalism. Darrenhusted (talk) 12:45, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Vandalism, to me, is when people replace Cena's page with something saying "Can't wrestle for shite and has been pushed due to lack of brain cells in WWE Creative" (and rightfully so). Edits like this leave me thinking something else. Not all edits that aren't source is vandalism, you know. --Kaizer13 (talk) 12:50, 28 July 2008 (UTC)
Adding false information is vandalism. Just more subtle and harder to spot. Darrenhusted (talk) 13:16, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

The Arm thing!?

Where it say's that on WWE.com, it say's That he is sufering from a bicep injury, WELL ITS TALKING ABOUT THE ONE THAT PUT HIM OUT OF ACTION BACK BEFORE WRESTLMANIA! Its been like that since his match with Edge, & he has recovered from that now, WWE.com doesn't update the Bios that much, the last update to his bio was changing it from Smackdown to Raw, so it isn't true that that is the reason he's out of action. will someone change it!--Kingdom of crash and spyro (talk) 17:17, 25 August 2008 (UTC)

It has been 6 months, that is how long it takes to recover from that injury, as far as we know he is still injurd, bring a source that he isn't, a reliable one, and it can be removed.--WillC 18:10, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
What about his return, he returned after the draft to beat Santino, he wasn't injured then, doesn't that count for anything, besides their is a source... somewhere, I'll try to find it. --Kingdom of crash and spyro (talk) 11:34, 26 August 2008 (UTC)

Jr?

I'm just wondering, why is "Jr." included in the article name? I know when he first debuted in the WWE, he was billed as Rey Mysterio, Jr. (at least initially but I think it was dropped fast) but considering that not only is he known as Rey Mysterio without the Jr. but that Sr. is Rey Misterio, not Mysterio, is the "Jr." really needed? I realize the only difference is spelling, but the spelling helps differentiate Mysterio from Misterio, so I'm not sure that Mysterio needs Jr. or that Misterio needs Sr. for that matter, but considering this is the Mysterio article I'm proposing we drop "Jr".
