There is a website http://www.memoire-du-cyclisme.eu/ on which can be found the results of this race. Hippolyte Aucouturier is indeed stated as the winner, but there is also an "Amateurs" section where René Pottier is given as the winner, with a time of 18h05'55" - some 2 hours faster than Aucouturier, over the same distance. I don't know what to make of that. To find the page, go to the website, in the left-hand margin, click "Courses disparues", then click the "FRA" link, then scroll all the way down to "Bordeaux-Paris - 1891-1988". Click that link, then finally click the link for 1903. I can't find, and don't know how to get, the URL for that page, so if someone is able to do so, please help out.
