The initial Redirected of this Quadratic algebra page to Quadratic polynomial was a mistake (speedy mouse click), although algebraic equations of quadratic forms are obviously a subject onto itself. Henry Delforn (talk) 22:54, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Alternative usage

[edit]

The term quadratic algebra is also used for the less complicated object of an algebra A which is projective and rank 2 over a ring R (so more directly analogous to the term quadratic field). See for example Knus, Max-Albert (1991). Quadratic and Hermitian forms over rings. Grundlehren der Mathematischen Wissenschaften. Vol. 294. Berlin etc.: Springer-Verlag. p. 4. Zbl 0756.11008. {{cite book}}: Unknown parameter |ishbn= ignored (help) What terminology would be appropriate for the two concepts? Spectral sequence (talk) 17:00, 30 May 2013 (UTC) Additionally we note that this ZMATH review Zbl 1222.17009 also refers to some authors using the term for conic algebra. No domain in Wikimedia is more enamoured with their own jargon than the mathematicians. Everyone else makes some effort to orient those unfamiliar, provide definitions, link to other pages, etc.

I survived a couple of semesters of undergraduate calculus, some graduate level stats, computer science, medical school, and a fellowship at a prestigious university in health informatics. I cannot make heads or tails what this page is about. 00:24, 8 September 2016‎ User:2607:fb90:a297:7782:0:4b:bf6:8e01

Sorry. It's an advanced topic. As you point out, you have no training whatsoever in the pre-requisites to the pre-requisites to understand this article. Its like complaining about not understanding Russian, because you don't know the cyrillic alphabet, despite receiving a good education. 67.198.37.16 (talk) 02:21, 26 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
