Name of article[edit]

Continuing the discussion from the other talk page, I don't think this is a particularly good title. It's fine as a placeholder, but it would be nice to come up with a better name and try to get some consensus. My problem with the current name is that it links ALL the listed protests to the film, when they aren't necessarily about that anymore. Some protests just seem to be general anti-Western sentiment, or general unrest, or whatever.

My suggestion is 2012 Islamic film controversy protests. (Edit: It also contains "film", but more in reference to the general controversy over it that seems to have sparked things, even if specific protests have devolved not to be. Better ideas more than welcome!) – 2001:db8:: (rfc | diff) 19:07, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What about 2012 Muslim anti-blasphemy protests, or 2012 Muhammad film anti blasphemy protests...? Any one got any better ideas?--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 19:14, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
My issue with 2012 Islamic Film controversy protests would be that it makes it sound like the film is Islamic as opposed to anti-Islam. Honestly, before this is all over we probably won't even be mentioning the film in the title. It seems to be spreading simply based and anti-US and anti-Western sentiment in general. The film will be mentioned as the spark but they seem to be taking on a life of their own. For now though, I'm still partial to 2012 Anti-Muslim (or Anti-Islam) Film Protests or maybe even 2012 Protests Against Anti-Muslim Film? Capeo (talk) 19:17, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with your point, now that I thought about that; it does make it sound like an Islamic film (which is worse than being slightly ambiguous.) I would be okay with 2012 Anti-Muslim (or Anti-Islam) Film Protests (not sure which is better, and case needs tweaking, but that's minor), but the latter suggestion seems a bit convoluted. What about something like September 2012 Muslim protests? It's vague but fits the description (assuming the violence hopefully ends before the end of the month, but that can always be tweaked.) And the whole event is vague now too, so maybe that's the way to go. (Edit: That feels like it characterizes the thing as a "Muslim protest", which seems perhaps POV. Strike that.) – 2001:db8:: (rfc | diff) 19:48, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This should be moved into the section in Innocence of Muslims. Nobody protests blasphemy in general, nor is there more than one film involved. This is like the "Economic and social consequences", needlessly splitting of information from its context. Skullers (talk) 20:01, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
In its current format, I agree. I think the idea is to move everything that's not about the Benghazi attack here, which does seem to go beyond the film, since some of the attacks now are just plain random. Or maybe I'm wrong about that, and this was meant as a protests list? If so, then definitely merge into Innocence of Muslims. – 2001:db8:: (rfc | diff) 20:10, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How about protests SPARKED by the film? As the movie was the original justification, but now its grown larger?--Bellerophon5685 (talk) 20:14, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have gone ahead and made a bold redirect as i feel that this is not a proper content fork. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 21:12, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WHY did you do a redirect but did not merge the content??? There was more content at this page then at the redirected one. Merrybrit (talk) 21:16, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that I was going to do so but you had already gotton to it. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 21:21, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, maybe next time first merge the content, then delete. Merrybrit (talk) 21:35, 14 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
