Poppy Harlow did NOT start this article wiki editor SimonATL (talk) 02:53, 3 February 2009 (UTC) did

I did and I am not a friend nor associate of Harlow and do not personally know her. I think her story is interesting and noteworthy, however - hence this article. Actually, if you look at the history of the article, you'll see that it was NOT me who filled in many missing facts - Harlow's given name, Katherine, for example that I did not know nor had any way of knowing. Please don't attribute this article to Harlow. I just did my homework and gleaned a lot of information from a host of online sources. Readers will note that I've started a number new of articles on various individuals. I am not obsessed with Harlow nor any other so-called media person. No doubt, Harlow has risen fairly fast up the news media food chain - hence this article. SimonATL (talk) 02:52, 3 February 2009 (UTC)

I'm glad you created this page, Simon. I see her each weekday and think she's terrific. She's very articulate and intelligent, plus photogenic. Don't listen to the haters.Openskye (talk) 01:18, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

She looks great in jeans, too. Saw that today.Openskye (talk) 20:12, 15 July 2009 (UTC)

We're looking for a Public Domain Photo

If you or anyone you knows has the opportunity to photograph Ms. Harlow, please submit the photo via WikiMedia. Thanks SimonATL SimonATL (talk) 00:37, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

Removed the tag

I added a source for her early life and education and removed the improve tag. Hope this helps.Openskye (talk) 02:31, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Apology

Is it worthwhile to add that CNN has refused to comment/apologize so far? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.136.20.243 (talk) 16:49, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 29 June 2018

I notice that Poppy Harlow's Gracie Award was mentioned, but there were other awards that she got that weren't mentioned. I would like to edit the article, and add those awards. Mohan132 (talk) 23:09, 29 June 2018 (UTC)

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Kpgjhpjm 02:13, 30 June 2018 (UTC)

Semi-protected edit request on 12 July 2018

I want to edit the section that talks about Poppy Harlow's awards. There was only one award mentioned, but I know for a fact that she has earned more. I am offended that her other awards for journalism have not been acknowledged, and I would like to edit this article so I can include the other awards she has received. Troll requests

@Bishonen: Then will you please action this request I made an hour ago ? - FlightTime (open channel) 22:00, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

There are many new (1 edit) accounts in today's page history making the same request that should also be blocked. - FlightTime (open channel) 22:02, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
Bishonen Thank you very much :) - FlightTime (open channel) 22:05, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I've semi'd for two days. That said, when I wrote my edit summary, I misunderstood the particular situation; I thought the user who signed the request had actually written "Poopy (sic)". That would have been unmistakable trolling and BLP vio. But it turns out the (sic) was added by MarnetteD, of course with the best intentions, but rather confusingly. It's possible, then, remotely and with a lot of AGF, that the "Poopy" was a typo. Bishonen | talk 22:08, 22 June 2018 (UTC).
Apologies for the confusion Bishonen. Since it was an "error" typed by more than one of these SPA's (as are the references to a "Pew" news) IMO it isn't a typo but you should feel free to remove the (sic)'s since I could be wrong. I was close to just removing the edit request as trolling but FlightTime had responded to it so I didn't feel that I could do that. IMO the posts that are still here are WP:BLP violations and merit removal as well but that is just me. Again my apologies for creating confusion. MarnetteD|Talk 22:19, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
@Bishonen and MarnetteD: I have been removing them all day, there are about 6 or 7 new accounts with just one edit (too make an edit request here), but then I found this so I thought AGF and restored the last request to see how it goes, but it still smells of trolling to me. Thanks all, - FlightTime (open channel) 22:36, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
Good work on the research front FlightTime. On the other hand 'ouch' I hope this has not hit the articles of others mentioned at that sight. MarnetteD|Talk 22:45, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
@MarnetteD: I just clicked on Don Lemon and Wolf Blitzner at that site and the avatar is the same person, proving it's all a sham :P - FlightTime (open channel) 22:51, 22 June 2018 (UTC)
Bishonen Thank you for blocking the other accounts. Cheers, - FlightTime (open channel) 00:05, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
Good grief I only just noticed that the sight is a wiki FlightTime - facepalm. Reminds me of the days when people kept trying to add links to Unencyclopedia to various articles. Oy. MarnetteD|Talk 00:10, 23 June 2018 (UTC)

@MusikAnimal, Bishonen, and MarnetteD: I was just wondering if an edit filter disallowing "Pew news" would help in this situation ? It's only a matter of time before other listed commentators pages are targeted. - FlightTime (open channel) 09:54, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

Edit filters are way above my paygrade. Hopefully MusikAnimal will have something to say. Bishonen | talk 10:46, 25 June 2018 (UTC).
I like the idea FlightTime but I don't know how they work either. It will have to be precise as there are articles for the Pew Charitable Trusts and Pew Research Center. You might ask at the WP:VPT. MarnetteD|Talk 14:01, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
MusikAnimal is an edit filter manager, I'll wait awhile and see if he responds. - FlightTime (open channel) 14:09, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
If disruption is limited to this or a small pool of pages, page protection is the solution. If this involves external links, the Spam blacklist should be used. Does this fit either criteria? If not, could you provide diffs to example edits? Also, for future reference, discussions around edit filters belong at WP:EFN (not WP:VPT :), and specifically requested filters can be made at WP:EF/R. We can continue talking here, though :) MusikAnimal talk 15:07, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
Guess not. Thanx anyway. Just thought it might help. - FlightTime (open channel) 15:11, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
Poppy Harlow is a parodic character played by Felix "PewDiePie" Kjellberg in his "Pew News" series. One of the first reporters he parodied was Gloria Borger, and her wiki page has a segment regarding this (see "In popular media" section). Poppy Harlow is the only other longstanding character besides Gloria Borger he has portrayed in a parodic manner in this series, so a professionally written section similar to the one in the Gloria Borger article might be worth creating to stop the trolls. I'm just saying that this is a legitimate thing in Youtube popular culture, and isn't fake (sort of). Whether or not this actually makes it on the page is not up to me...TheKpenguin (talk) 01:21, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Just because someone parodies someone else does not make the situation encyclopedic. As with all else at Wikipedia it is comments in WP:SECONDARY sources that determines what is included in an article. MarnetteD|Talk 05:51, 21 September 2018 (UTC)
Why does Gloria Borger's page have a section on this topic?TheKpenguin (talk) 21:26, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is not a reason to add this item to this article. Why did you create a WP:SPA. MarnetteD|Talk 21:39, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
I have not put in an edit request for anything or made any attempts to edit anything, I was just providing more information on this topic. Thank you for pointing out otherstuffexists.TheKpenguin (talk) 04:17, 26 September 2018 (UTC)

Lou Dobbs Tonight

Didn't she work as a correspondent for the CNN program Lou Dobbs Tonight? I'm sure I saw her on that program for years. If so, this should be mentioned in the article. 173.88.241.33 (talk) 21:41, 23 December 2018 (UTC)

Pew News

Poppy Harlow is primarily under the employment of Felix Kjellberg for the news source, "Pew News." She appears on this channel almost weekly. Giannalmemo (talk) 02:11, 20 February 2019 (UTC)

ADDITION to "CAREER"

Harlow joined CNN in 2008 and served as the anchor for CNNMoney.com and reported for CNN, CNN International and HLN. In April 2012, Harlow was named a New York-based CNN correspondent.

In February 2017, Harlow launched a podcast “Boss Files with Poppy Harlow”, which explores the journeys of business and global leaders.

Harlow has been nominated for multiple Emmy awards throughout her career and her reporting has won numerous industry awards, including the Gracie Award for best online investigative feature on financial fraud, and SABEW's Best in Business award for online video.

Work as correspondent for Lou Dobbs

Shouldn't this article mention that, for years, Poppy Harlow worked as a correspondent for the Lou Dobbs Tonight program on CNN? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 16:29, 14 May 2023 (UTC)
