Categories

Suggestion: could someone add Categories at the bottom of this article? Off the top of my head: Living Persons (at least, as of now...-), Americans, New Yorkers, authors, educators, media commentators, etc... Whatever you think appropriate. Many thanks. PaulLev 16:30, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Also - suggestion for very minor change - should say Isaac Asimov's Foundation trilogy - rather than the current phrasing, which is a little confusing (and we don't need "famous"). Thanks again. PaulLev 16:35, 16 September 2006 (UTC)

Done. --ZimZalaBim (talk) 00:42, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

Review comments

Some suggestions for improvement as the article is expanded:

  • Infobox fields need populating
  • Article needs reorganising with material from lead moving to main body of article, and lead itself pruning to no more than 3-4 paragraphs
  • Some basic biographical material missing, eg date and place of birth
  • Information on works should be expanded, and references are required
  • Section 'Media commentator' should be substantially shortened; there's no need to list all appearances
  • Section 'Songwriter, recording artist, and record producer' should be rewritten without bullet points
  • References should be added, preferably in the inline format
  • External links list could do with pruning

Controversy

Although carefully written within the bounds of WP:NOTE this "vanity page" treads closely to the edge of WP:SPIP. When a self-promoter is then critical of the policies of a site that he uses to so promote himself, he creates an ironic controversy that merits record.

The prior addition to the talk page was rolled back a minute after my submission by User:Havemeyer. Is it even proper to rollback talk without comment? I suppose I'll find out in a minute or so whether this is rolled back also.

I scarcely know Paul Levinson, but I am confident in his WP:NOTE. He's an officer in a leading scholarly organization, Digital Media society, he is often cited, and he has keynoted a major conference focused on the legacy of Marshall McLuhan. Bellagio99 (talk) 15:13, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
P.S. It's common for the Rollback button to be used when an edit doesn't make sense. I agree with you that a comment on a talk page should not be rolled back unless it violates WP:BLP Let's move on Bellagio99 (talk) 15:15, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
