Edit war

So Iceberg, who are you really? What are your credentials? Why should anyone believe this stuff you write? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.211.145.215 (talkcontribs) 18:05, 14 July 2007

Scott, what are your credentials first? Why should anyone trust your word over mine? Iceberg007 18:11, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Could we not just redirect to Paleoclimatology instead of just having a page saying that a Paleoclimatologist is an individual who studies this subject? Bfp (talk) 18:15, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly so. Done. What a dumb edit war. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 18:23, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Sounds good to me. Iceberg007 18:29, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect

[edit]

75.211.xx.xx, could you explain why you think this article should not be redirected? Thanks. Bfp (talk) 19:02, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't we redirect everything? Does anyone have a problem describing paleoclimatologists? My guess is that there isn't an official definition of the term given that no university I've ever heard of offers a degree in the subject. Given that, we're left to define the practice based on it's behavior; this is an important historical and cultural definition, which captures some of the tone surrounding environmentalism during the early 21st century.

BTW, even Paleoclimatologists have senses of humor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cherf (talkcontribs) 13:25, 15 July 2007

Surely the description of a Paleoclimatologist is someone who studies Paleoclimatology? Take for example the pages Climatologist and Meteorologist are both redirects to their respective subjects. Bfp (talk) 13:36, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. Unless there's a very good reason, in every case, XYZist is a redirect to XYZ. --jpgordon∇∆∇∆ 13:38, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd just like to point out that the three of you have just succeeded in limiting speech on this subject. Congratulations.
