The well-researched article by Erik Eggers in the Tennis Borussia website contradicts the existing narrative about his membership of the Nazi Party. It states Nerz had joined the SDP in 1919 and that his membership of it would have precluded entry into the Nazi Party under the latter's rules prior to Germany becoming a one (Nazi) party state.
