Lots done already

[edit]

I guess I am swamped elsewhere, as I hadn't noticed this article going up so quickly. I'll continue to assist as I can. Let's try to avoid too many numbers in the intro...I think readers do better without too many numerical figures overall. I converted some to square kilomters but others may prefer to see hectares used instead...it just makes for huge numbers when using hectares for larger acreage conversions. I have no idea how much 431 million board feet is converted to metric...either that or I forgot.--MONGO 12:44, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA on hold

[edit]

To be done:

  1. Change 'Cited Refernces' to References
  2. Reference 5 appears not to work Referenced another existing citation that contained the info
  3. Fix North Entrance red link
  4. More refs for facilities
  5. Introduce wikilinks in 'Facilities'
  6. More info where possible (may not be needed)

Must be done in 7 days (finish 09 March 07) or article will fail GDon4t0 20:41, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As progress has been made and i am taking into account the time needed to complete changes i am willing to extend the hold status for this article until 16 March 2007. Please ensure changes are made within this time frame or this article will fail. --Bradelle2619 12:42, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly need to withdraw GA nomination?

[edit]

In fixing the reference 5 item above, I just noticed that a good bit of this article's text is copied word for word. Might need closer inspection to see if that is the case across the board. Since I nominated the article (I haven't done any editing to it really before now), I'd like someone else to give their opinion. --Roswell native 21:06, 2 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely i think that further review and editing would be needed for a pass. I recommend a withdraw until the questionable content is actioned appropriately --Bradelle2619 05:38, 6 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just withdrew this nomination as this article is a cut and paste from its sources. Let me know if I did the withdrawal incorrectly from the GAC page. Also, I'll put a tag on this article to indicate it has been copied and pasted from the sources. --Roswell native 02:44, 16 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The content of .gov websites are usually in the public domain so I've removed the {{copypaste}} template. —dv82matt 05:57, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Acres and Visitors

[edit]

I have updated the additional land acquired on the east side of the refuge, which puts the current acres at 402,000. Check www.fws.gov/okefenokee to verify that this this true. In addition, Okefenokee NWR consistently claims to have 400,000 visitors per year.
