Northside vs. North Long Beach

[edit]

Does anyone know if the name "Northside" is really in common usage? For years, residents have called it "North Long Beach". Maybe it is Northside now, but if that is just gang slang or real estate agent-speak, it probably doesn't belong on Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaohoyt (talkcontribs) 12:01, 10 July 2006

Northside or North Side is almost exclusively a gang reference, distinguishing North Long Beach from the gang areas known as Westside (West Long Beach) and Eastside (aka Central Long Beach). So you have various gangs, such as ESL (Eastside Longos).
A quick reality check on general usage of the two designations using a Google site search for the Long Beach Press-Telegram and for the City of Long Beach website (http://longbeach.gov) shows no usage of "Northside" in reference to North Long Beach for either website. Because of that, I am moving the article. BlankVerse 06:12, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for researching this. Gaohoyt 04:52, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Graffiti crews

[edit]

Do we really need a listing of tagging crews in North Long Beach? Did some 13-year old learn how to edit Wikipedia? The talk of gang violence is relevant but nobody reading this is going to care how "infamous" a tagging crew is... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.109.210.73 (talk) 07:21, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
