This article is written in Nigerian English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, realise, travelled, centre) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. Untitled
[edit]I'd first heard on a nigerian forum itself that the name was derived from the epithet "n----- area" referring to the basin with an obviously similar etymology (from some late 19th century british lord's wife's recommendation or something). Wikipedia isn't supposed to be censored.
long before the scramble that created the current 'african' countries'[1]
obviously had to blank it because there's no telling what an IP address may get 'smacked' for (compared to admins) <and the prime reason I don't use/recommend wikipedia as an encyclopedia> Not a rant.
Cities over one million
[edit]The Administrative Divisions section says "Nigeria has five cities with a population of over a million (from largest to smallest): Lagos, Kano, Ibadan, Benin City and Port Harcourt" and then in the next paragraph says "....including ten cities with a population of one million."
a) I don't think this belongs in this section, and b) there is an implied contradiction about the number of over-one-million cities. Hayttom (talk) 15:12, 29 October 2024 (UTC)
