City of Newburgh, Orange County, NY

Newburgh was first settled by Palatines in 1709 following Pastor Joshua Kocherthal; Palatine descendants remain in the area (see the first section under "History"). Perhaps it was Scots emigrants that later changed the name, however, from "Palatine Parish by Quassaick" to "Newburgh". Is that what you meant?
