Cleanup[edit]

First of all the article needs to brought into line with the Wikipedia manual of style. This includes having an encyclopedic intro. Then it needs to have wikilinks added where appropriate. Though the article cites two references overall, it's better if individual statements are referenced, especially those that may read as original research or opinion. See WP:CITE for suggestions. There was a lot of text on this page that was directly copied from the main source site, I have removed as much of this as I could find and have replaced the information in a way that doesn't not violate copyright, but please can whoever added it be careful, and see Wikipedia:Copyright, thanks! I have to found other copyright violations and have removed them, the person who is directly copying from the source needs to be more carefull. I do know that "Services" is all written by me and does not violate copyright.--Tiptoety 18:27, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Tiptoety (I like the name) I checked the history and dug up the earliest version here which you created, and it contains all of the copyrighted text that I subsequently removed. Just a friendly reminder to you that you can't copy material from other websites like that as it is a violation of copyright and wikipedia can get in legal trouble. Having said that, I couldn't find any more text in the article that was also on the websites (i.e. I cant find any more copy violations) so the rest of it all appears to be good contributions! Me again, I've re-written all the other sections to a certain extent in order to clear any possible copyvio problems. There shouldn't be any more issues now so I'm going to get off your back Tiptoety, as I'm sure you want to do your own work without us looking over your shoulder, but if you any questions just drop either Katr67 or myself an email or talk page message and we will try to help you out. B class assessment[edit]

A few caveats with assessment. First, articles almost alwats should be the same "class" across WikiProjects. We all use the same assessment scale, so there should not be a mixed assessment. Second, normally we do not assess articles we do significant work, that way there is no bias. For GA class assessments must be done by someone who has not worked on the article. We all do good work, but we need a second opinion on assessment so we know what it is that needs work to get it up to FA class. Now specifically for this article, this is still a Start class article. It is on the high end, but does not meet the B class criteria. Key missing information includes how many members are there, command structure, and some history beyond two dates (such as in 1976 the MCSOSR assisted in finding Bob Packwood who was lost in the woods or preferably something from reality). Then the Membership section should be converted to prose, as should the other agencies since outside of the Civil Air Patrol none have articles (also I don't believe there is an agency called the Oregon Coast Guard, U.S. Coast Guard yes). Accomplishing several (but not necesarily all) will get this to B class. Adding all of these plus copyediting will get it to GA. But, this is a great start and much better than most articles in the encyclopedia. Aboutmovies 00:31, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Sar123.jpg[edit]

Image:Sar123.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
