Discussion of suggested merge os "Mount gambier golf club" with "Mount Gambier, South Australia"

[edit]

Hi there, I have recently created the "Mount gambier golf club" page in wikipedia, and am quite new to wikipedia itself.

I initially had two objectives in creating the page. 1. to allow a wikipedia link in google earth 2. to help add information to the (sub)category of "golf courses in australia"

I plan to add more data specifically about the course - including links to pictures - in the weeks and months ahead.

I am happy to discuss further - and be guided by more experienced editors - but is it advisable to mark an entry / page about Mount Gambier itself with a category of golf?

Another thought, is that I'm not sure if it is possible to get more than one wikipedia "link" per page. Is this possible ?

I am also happy to add / remove categories to make sure that the great work on the Mount Gambier page is referenced "usefully".

What happened to the Prominent Locals list?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 123.3.28.238 (talkcontribs) 23:09, 16 April 2007 (ACST).

Most probably it was removed for being unmaintainable.--cj | talk 14:41, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sports Person

[edit]

There should be a section featuring the town's sports people who have gone on to succeed on a grand scale. The obvious one that I have in mind is Angela Beer who was the nation's number 1 Monopoly Player, taking out several titles and representing Australia in international tournaments.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 203.169.21.105 (talkcontribs) 14:14, 20 April 2007 (ACST).

pffft, like that is really a huge feature of mt gambier. yes, angela beer was a monopoly champ. It was in 1996. 12 years ago. Move on already. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.17.67.189 (talk) 12:52, 16 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Distances?

[edit]

To those of us not familiar with local road conditions, "approximately a five-hour drive" isn't that helpful. Could someone please insert km figures too? 86.136.250.66 (talk) 19:26, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Second largest city ?

[edit]

I was under the understanding that Mount Barker, South Australia was bigger in terms population ?

Assuming that Mount Barker is classed as a metropolitan city, then perhaps the article should state that Mount Gambier is the largest regional city. THoughts ? Biatch (talk) 00:30, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Mount barker is literally half the size of Mount Gambier. (14k vs 28k) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_places_in_South_Australia_by_population 110.141.220.242 (talk) 15:54, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Mount Gambier, South AustraliaMount GambierMount Gambier has been a redirect to this article since 2011. I think it is reasonable to say that the city is the primary topic rather than the other articles at Mount Gambier (disambiguation). A7V2 (talk) 00:41, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Indigenous owners is misleading

[edit]

Change wording of “indigenous owners” it is accepted that the First Nations people do not consider they “own” country but are rather referred to as “custodians”. 110.174.117.23 (talk) 22:46, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Localities around Mount Gambier

[edit]

Should we add Wandilo above Suttontown in the Localities around Mount Gambier section of the Infobox? It seems relevant but at the same time I suppose you have to draw a line. I say its relevant because Worrolong and Suttontown are not so 'fringe' anymore with the urban sprawl in that direction -- few more years and it may be classed suburban like Worrolong and Suttontown.
