You don't seems to understand that children and teens do not always get what irony is, especially children and young people who come from fine, loving, understanding and warm homes and environments, they will have difficulties understanding these scenes. And today many children may read this article. Leave please that explanation where it is, it doesn't hurt anyone. It is just a simple explanation, and some people may need this, even if you understand everything. People who are not used with irony do not understand it as well as the people living in a hard and hostile environment. And this explanation has indeed a lot to do with the subject of the article. The subject of this article is indeed mockery and irony. Stop reverting it or you might get blocked because of edit warring. Hafspajen (talk) 19:24, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Keep it in. Bill the Cat 7 (talk) 20:55, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I understand your concern regarding the term in the article. However, while irony is often misunderstood, it is not within the scope of this article to explain that specifically. By that logic, we should modify every article that uses often misunderstood terms. Such an explanation is far too involved, and is simply jarring for readers. The purpose of the header section is not to address all possible misinterpretations of the content, but to provide a general look at the subject of the article. You should read WP:LEAD, the most relevant section in this situation is, I think "Apart from trivial basic facts, significant information should not appear in the lead if it is not covered in the remainder of the article." I don't think it belongs, and certainly not in the lead. This is why we have wikilinks. StAnselm (talk) 07:40, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

God is not mocked because he is - what?

[edit]
He ... notes that while Paul says in Galatians 6:7 that "God is not mocked", this is precisely because God has been mocked.

Huh? Metairony?

Also http://www.credenda.org/index.php/Church/god-is-mocked.html is 404, so we cannot check the context.

-> Let us remove this, as it is too abstruse and WP:OR.
