Merger

[edit]

These are the same statute, the article was written twice.—Markles 00:00, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. There isn't much overlapping info, so it should be a good merger. "Immigration and Nationality Act" was its official name, so that is the better article title. -Will Beback 05:13, 7 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I also agree. There is very little overlapping info. "Immigration and Nationality Act" is a better name as it is official. However, I think "McCarran-Walter Act" is the better article when it comes to the history of the act, and that is probably what most people are searching for with either term. Obviously there should still be a link to "Immigration and Nationality Act" from "McCarran-Walter Act" as many people will search that. Also, I'm a newb so how do you actually get a merger do you need to get an admin? If so how? -halter73 11:17, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ideological clauses

[edit]

The article stated that the clauses barring entry on ideological grounds were repealed in 1988. However, [1] says that these clauses were repealed in a 1990 act, so I've changed the date in the article. VoluntarySlave 07:09, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
