I wonder why this topic has its own entry. I am sure that whatever there is to say about Mazatec shamans can be covered in the short article on Mazatec people. Lagringa (talk) 15:24, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- The article title and focus should really be about the practice (eg Mazatec shamanism, or Shamanism in Mazatec culture), not about the individuals. But in any case, IMO there's no real compelling reason to merge the two, both could readily be expanded upon at some length if someone had the mind to. I don't see any probs in maintaining this subject as a separate article, shamanistic practices such as outlined here would not be a universal feature of all contemporary mazatec communities for eg.--cjllw ʘ TALK 07:31, 23 August 2010 (UTC)

- What to do with Velada (Mazatec ritual)? Redirect to this article would be appropriate. We can keep the cats in the redirect, however. Viriditas (talk) 04:27, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- Well, that article could be readily expanded too, of course. I did track down some useful sources and put them in the article a little while ago. However I'm not likely to have sufficient time or focus to carry out any expansion on it in the near term, myself. Perhaps it cld be redirected to here & the contents imported, but would need a bit of re-writing anyway to fit in to context. I don't think it's any prob to have it as a separate stub, but wouldn't fuss too much if it was incorporated here. Chjota chjine redir
Chjota chjine redirects to Mazatec shamanism, but Mazatec shamanism does not explain or even mention Chjota chjine, either as another language spelling or a related term or anything. Is the redirection correct? --CiaPan (talk) 12:19, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
