A population of 100,000-120,000? The doesn't seem possible. Needs a source. --Rmlucas 06:06, 27 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, the Gas Boom that resulted from the Trenton Gas Field caused a rush of people to the area not unlike the California Gold Rush, so 100,000 isn't impossible. I agree we still need a source. Indyguy (talk) 16:55, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that no attribution is given for the idea that Matthews had aspirations to become the capital of Indiana. I have been told that written records of this idea are lacking.
