22-AUG-2007: With reference to the article on the village of Masca in Tenerife, having just returned from the island and been on Tenerife during the recent wildfires, I can assure anyone who is concerned, that Masca has NOT been "laid to ashes" as stated in the article. I visited the area after the fires had been extinguished and around half a dozen houses have been damaged and a substantial amount of damage to the surrounding forest/valley is evident, but to suggest the village has been completely destroyed is very far from true.

24-SEP-07: OK, I'll try this again. The original author of this page has stated that Masca was "laid to ashes" in the recent fires on Tenerife. I, having been there at the time and having seen the village after the fire had finished, dared to suggest that this was not strictly true. The author has seen fit to remove my direction to this page and subsequent rebuttal of their statement. I can't be bothered to argue the point, so I have not re-instated my directive, but instead will direct ayone who is interested enough to come to this discussion, to the following article

http://www.secret-tenerife.com/2007/08/tenerife-fire-news-from-masca.shtml

which clearly agrees with me, that the destruction of 6 houses - although devastating to the owners and clearly 6 houses too many in such a small village - hardly constitutes the village being "laid to ashes". I do wish people would get their facts right......... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.236.250.250 (talk) 13:59, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
