Burj al-Arab?
[edit]I've seen a rough drawing of the Burj al-Arab in a book by Colani, without any comment. Surely the architecture fits the values of Colani, but I've never seen any reference to him, especially not on the internet. Can anybody shed some light how the design of the hotel emerged, and if Colani played a role in it? Thanks :-) Peter S. 23:23, 14 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi Peter, No, Mr. Colani was not involved with the design of the Burj Al-Arab. But I agree, it looks like it is designed from him. He created some designs for skyscraper years ago which yes, they looked like Burj Al-Arab , probably some involved took some inspiration from his ideas...hope this helps. (84.227.187.138)
- Thanks, kind stranger! :-) Peter S. 22:28, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
New Information to be Added
[edit]There is a revival of the Pierce-Arrow brand by Luigi Colani. Avoiding "bias," it may be a good idea to create a separate page for "Piece-Arrow by Colani," since it has been a 70 year hiatus and the styling is so different. Website for revival brand: http://www.piercearrow-corp.com/start.php (WTarrasque (talk) 03:21, 25 June 2008 (UTC))
Controversy
[edit]Many think that Colani is with thought of cost, profit, modern manufacturing techniques and this is a sign of a designer without merit. A professor of whim and a student of the Dr.Seuss design school. He has never worked on anything in a "production" environment and therefore uses his "creativity" to fulfill his own lack of ego. Proof of the "many" people who believe this is in his constantly "moving" from project to project without any mass produced product to show for it.
He also, on the Discovery Channel series Futurecar, tries to take credit for "biodesign" when the truly creative men like Leonardo Da Vinci, Frank Lloyd Wright along with many modern designers use nature to influence their work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.207.26.154 (talk) 17:24, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Nothing like a touch of jealousy to bring out the bile. Anonymous uneducated personal opinion has no place here.
Luigi colanis Father is Kurdish
[edit]Luigi colanis father was kurdish from Iraq his surname Colani comes from Gholani. In a Interview he said by his own that he is kurdish.
You can read it also in the German wikipedia

swiss-born
[edit]how is he swiss-born when he was born in Berlin? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.48.96.147 (talk) 22:52, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
- Exactly what I was thinking about. Perhaps we was born with the Swiss nationality because their parents were Swiss. In such case, he was born as Swiss but out of Switzerland because his mother was in Berlin at that time, so even if he was born in Germany he wasn't German-born (German laws don't concede German nationality at birth if none of your parents aren't German).
