Intros

According to The Complete Directory to Prime Time Network and Cable TV Shows, by television researchers Tim Brooks and Earle Marsh, which is recognized as an authoritative work, it was the introductions to her shows, where she appeared out of character as herself, which were forbidden to be rebroadcast; the shows themselves, both ones in which she had appeared and those which she had merely hosted, were frequently rerun; in fact, all of the programs, less her intros, were rerun on NBC in the daytime from 1960 to 1964 as The Loretta Young Theatre, additionally, they appeared for years in syndication. Controversy?

Just an annoying thought. Is controversy really the best title of that section? There wasn't so much controversy as speculation. Something like Clark Gable affair would be less dramatic in my opinion. EconomicsGuy (talk) 09:01, 19 December 2007 (UTC)

Controversy

The last sentence in the "Controversy" section is confusing. Is Loretta Young saying that she is the 'walking mortal sin", or is she referring to her daughter? 70.237.190.30 (talk) 01:47, 8 April 2010 (UTC)Mike

Religious categories

Please do not add religious categories without verifiable and reliable sources. Please do not revert categories without discussion. Thank you. Span (talk) 23:09, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

I fully agree. The category was added back without source again, but I took the liberty of adding several sources that sufficiently support the category along with Young's worth with various Catholic charities. Editors need to be aware that citing "common knowledge" or a talk page discussion as a basis for inclusion does not comply with WP:V and WP:RS. It took me all of three minutes to find several different sources that support the category. That was work that should have been done by the person who wanted the category added (see WP:BURDEN). Thank you for your added sources, Pinkadelica. Span (talk) 01:16, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

"Citation needed"

This has been up since January 2010. One problem I found was William Holden being listed as involved in Republican politics in Hollywood, while his own article says he was a friend of Reagan, but never involved in party politics. Citation obviously needed, or else needs to be removed. Others may add other points here, thank you. --Paul Pieniezny (talk) 11:51, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

I just now downloaded Loretta Young's bio, to reread it for various facts............and discovered that whoever "decided" to do the last update, has a very basic fact wrong already. Loretta's true name was NOT Gretchen Young. Her first name might have been "Loretta", but it's been common knowledge since the 1920's that Loretta's real last name was SAENZ........how do I know this ? check any John Wayne biography - Wayne's first wife was Josephine Saenz [mother of Wayne's oldest sons, Michael and Patrick Wayne], and she was Loretta's sister. They may have been born in the U.S. (I don't recall the facts about that), but they were of Cuban heritage, because their father was Jose Saenz, and was Cuban by birth. Wow. None of what you wrote is true. 2600:1700:BC01:9B0:544F:E012:2320:EFE4 (talk) 23:49, 20 October 2021 (UTC)

Josephine Saenz Wayne was Loretta Young's close friend, not her sister. Loretta Young's sisters...as you can read in any biography of her...are the actresses Sally Blane, Polly Ann Young, and Georgiana Young, probably better known as Ricardo Montalban's wife. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.76.39.161 (talk) 19:34, 15 August 2018 (UTC)

Buzzfeed article

An interview appeared in Buzzfeed in July 2015 with the son and daughter-in-law of Loretta Young, both of whom claim that Young said in 1998 she was date raped by Clark Gable. I have added this information to the article and have provided a citation. The claim belongs in the article, though we should be careful to note that it is only a claim and include any other information that is available with appropriate citations. --Bookworm857158367 (talk) 22:54, 16 July 2015 (UTC)

To Bookworm857158367, May we always agree to disagree? Though we both agree it's a so called 'claim' for now on the matter. If the article was true, the "daughter in-law" would've gone to a professional website or company and this story would be on the news or tmz and it hasn't. There still hasn't been any evidence or sources coming out based on these so called "allegations" and never of these allegations ever been confessed or witnessed. How about: if this tabloid story or claim hasn't been any recent confessions, actual evidence and sources or even any celebrity news companies like tmz and such have given much discussion on it and it has disappeared with the other tabloids, we agree for the claim to be taken off of both pages of Loretta and Clark? Since it'll be plenty of time, I hope we are given to a fair conclusion of such a tabloid claim. - montygables — Preceding undated comment added 15:34, 17 July 2015 (UTC)

Sorry, but no. This was an interview conducted with the daughter-in-law and the son of Loretta Young. The claim is sourced and it should be included in the article. You are welcome to look for other sources that could also be added to the article that might contradict or cast doubt on this claim by Chris and Linda Lewis. --Bookworm857158367 (talk) 18:59, 17 July 2015 (UTC)
