Design
[edit]Ukiss2ne14lyfe, I know that you did most of the layout on this page (as well as the equivalent for RM). I did up J-Hope's for the most part, formatting it after established "songs written" FLs and nominated it for that status. I would like to do the same for Suga and RM's pages, but this would probably result in a restructure to look more similar to the one for J-Hope. Since your a major editor on this I wanted to get your input before I do anything. DanielleTH (Say hi!) 02:15, 28 June 2019 (UTC)
- I think designing it like JHope's would be better. When I made it I was just trying to get it off the main page as it was big enough to need its own page.Ukiss2ne14lyfe (talk) 18:58, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
Inconsistency
[edit]Some tables list him as a producer and others as a composer. It's confusing, so we have two alternatives. 1) We stick with either one or the other. That means some credits need to be changed (and everything needs to be double-checked because people usually mix composer and producer like they're the same thing). Similar articles follow that structure, with lyrics and music because komca doesn't list producers. 2) We add another column and mention both. He's known as a producer, so maybe it's not a bad idea. @Carlobunnie: what do you think? - Ïvana (talk) 13:37, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Ïvana: I think the 2nd option of adding a column for production credits is a good idea. [Edit] Also, what do you think about converting the page (as well as Joon
+Hobi's) to something like this? Idk if that's the preferred format now (like how all-in-one tables are for awards lists) but we could consider it. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 19:39, 12 May 2021 (UTC)- @Carlobunnie: I suppose it's more convenient to include everything in one table. I see thats common with western musicians (or maybe the kpop section of Wikipedia has different rules). Right now everything is divided by year and album which makes it harder for people to add entries where they're not supposed to be. The new format also doesn't mention producers, and rapline are known for being producers. If we add another column then that deviates from that format. Or maybe we could just mark those songs with a key or something. I just want to avoid an influx of people disrupting the page and/or complaining like they do with the main vocalist thing. - Ïvana (talk) 21:49, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Ïvana: to the best of my knowledge there are no separate rules for kpop articles of this nature, just like how other award list articles started being changed after we converted the BTS one. We don't necessarily have to change it now but if that format is the way it should to be then we'll have to eventually. A key for the production credits is fine with me, though I don't see why a col can't be added if modification of the table is allowed. We could probably ask on the music/songs project page to know for sure. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 22:26, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Carlobunnie: I suggested using a key simply because checking similar lists I didn't see columns other than song, artist, writer, album, year and refs. Hobi's page is a featured list following that structure, so maybe that's the norm. We should probably make sure changes are allowed before revamping everything. If/when you have time, could you ask around? - Ïvana (talk) 02:17, 13 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Ïvana: I haven't visited Hobi's page in a while so I completely forgot his was already done. I'll ask on the WP:Songs talk page shortly. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 03:05, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Ïvana, coming back to this, the sole reply I got on the WP:SONGS talk page (this was a while back so memory is shoddy) didn't think the production credits were necessary if the article is supposed to be about songs written. After doing some looking around on WP, I saw that Bruno Mars for eg. has two articles: one for songs he's written, and one for songs he's produced, so if anything maybe we can just create a separate list article for Suga's production credits if necessary. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 23:39, 15 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Carlobunnie: Making a separate article sounds like a good idea. Adding a key to mark songs he produced, like I suggested last time, wouldn't work because there are a few songs where he only worked as a producer and didn't write lyrics so they wouldn't be here (like Eternal Sunshine) so the list wouldn't be complete. Should we get rid of the composer/music section and unify everything on a single table? To match Hobi's article. - Ïvana (talk) 02:45, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Ïvana: the single table appears to be the standard format for "list of songs written/produced by..." articles (I went through some FLs and read comments from frequent reviewers as well) so yes we'd have to remove it to match the columns specified in those. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 05:19, 16 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Carlobunnie: I wonder why pretty much all the listicles I've seen for koreans/idols don't follow that format. Anyways, I'll start working on the produced by list. - Ïvana (talk) 18:35, 16 July 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Ivana, could probably use Psy's tweet with the complete tracklist as a temp primary source until articles come out. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 05:04, 27 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Carlobunnie: Found one :) was waiting for someone to use that tweet. - Ïvana (talk) 11:26, 27 April 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Just a reminder that small text formatting shouldn't be used for the Korean titles. -- Carlobunnie (talk) 17:52, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
