Splitting proposal

[edit]

I propose that former road routes section be split into a separate page called List of former road routes in New South Wales. The content makes this page very long, and is large enough to be made into it's own article. Life200BC (talk) 02:26, 21 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I would propose that former national highways section be split into a separate page called List of former national highways in New South Wales instead of doing it the traditional way. This will have photos and a bit of everything and try and make it attractive (as I'm from the tourism industry and this is key). I don't like lists especially when its duplicated with no changes as this makings it unattractive for readers. IMHO, this would be an alternate solution.

@Life200BC

G'day Life200BC, I've done something, is that what you are talking about? I have submitted this article so see the link below. It has just national highways but there soon shall be one for the others.

Was created by a sockpuppet, so deleted under G5. Dreamy Jazz talk to me | my contributions 00:23, 5 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Article re-edit

[edit]

This article is a mess: Thent1234's (and their sockpuppets') unilateral duplication of each route not only makes this page near-unreadable and way too lengthy, but do we really need each individual on- and off-ramp details as well (yes, there is such a thing as too excessively detailed)? I realise I could just revert the duplicate edits under WP:BRD, but I wish to further fix remaining issues. For each section, I propose to:

  • remove duplicate entries
  • merge both Length columns into one using convert template for both
  • remove RMS Classified Region column (unnecessary, details can be obtained from road article links if wanted)
  • remove Tolled column (tolled roads, even in Sydney, are an exception, not the rule: relevant toll details can be moved to the Notes column)
  • remove Former Route Number column (unnecessary, but these can be spun off into a separate article if people really want to, like Victoria's article)
  • condense entries to eliminate superfluous detail (eg: delete on- and off-ramp details; condense multiple listing of the same highway where necessary)
  • in conjunction with the above edits restoring whitespace and readability, the font-size can be restored back to 100%, further improving readability

I have been repairing the Victorian and South Australian road route articles once duplicates had been removed from those articles, and I am happy to volunteer for this article: I just wanted to state my intentions before I get accused of the unilateral edits Thent1234 has made! All feedback welcome.

All good ideas. This list is an unreadable mess as it is. ҉ Randwicked ҉ 09:16, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Done, looking far more readable now. However, I do think we need to spin off more information, as this article is still far too bloated. I suggest, as an example, creating a List of road routes in New South Wales (numeric) (much like the Victorian version) or List of former road routes in New South Wales (as previously suggested) where we can move the historical details - such as their history in NSW and the old Metroads/NH/National/State/Ring route allocations - and keep this article both up-to-date and relevant. Lordstorm (talk) 01:54, 18 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
P.s. Does D5 exist? I've seen D1 but never D5. 61.69.229.211 (talk) 09:14, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also created a draft with Draft:List of road routes in NSW (numeric). Only thing is; I need the help of User:Lordstorm 61.69.229.211 (talk) 09:27, 19 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Include A11?

[edit]

Shall we include A11. It was a similar situation to A7 but with Pacific Highway? Except it was signed in many places 61.69.229.211 (talk) 11:28, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would. Apologies, didn't carry it across previously due to a lack of info (only previous reference to it was a fleeting comment of it running through Wahroonga), but add it if you've got definitive route details Lordstorm (talk) 01:12, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lordstorm: A11 was introduced in April 2019 for the Pacific Highway from Pearces Corner to the Gore Hill Fwy. Meanwhile, Highway One was meant to go down Northconnex, La. Cove Tunnel and part of the M2 Hills Motorway. RMS then consulted with Transurban; they weren't happy as the Hills M2 brand would be lost. RMS/TfNSW then opened Northconnex unnumbered. 61.69.229.211 (talk) 09:35, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Additionally, can you make "Clift Street" on B82 a greyish colour? That section was decommissioned and rerouted. 61.69.229.211 (talk) 09:40, 4 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Missing route

[edit]

I found a ghost route number south of Corowa
State Route 86
It doesn't seem to be listed anywhere. Can someone chase that up? Jordf32123 (talk) 05:17, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: It was even, at least erroneously, re-signposted up to the 2010s

This has already been listed on List of road routes in NSW (numeric) article, under Rural New South Wales section, where it belongs. Lordstorm (talk) 05:41, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
