Talk:List of episodes of Power Rangers
Episodes
[edit]There are alot of links to episodes that don't go anywhere. I undersatnd that somepeople want to delete them, but what you should do is write info about the episodes. That way people new to Power Rangers can learn about them easier.
While that sounds like a good idea, it will create a vast number of Wikipedia articles that a lot of people will have no interest in. There are other sites that have episode synopses, we don't need them here, except for perhaps a few more important episodes. Nice job with the list, though. -- Supermorff 23:46, 17 August 2005 (UTC)
Thanks, I am doing what I can. A little project for me you know. But I would appreciate help with broken links. And by that I mean stuff like helping direct them to the page they belong too, not deleteing them. You seem to be doing a good job so far
Someone has restored the Day of the Dumpster link in the initial paragraph (season air dates). I'm going to remove it again. I can live with links in the table, but it becomes too obvious that they're broken if we have links there too. Despite being the first episode, I don't think Day of the Dumpster was a noteworthy enough episode to warrant its own article. At least not yet. -- Supermorff 08:23, 2 September 2005 (UTC)
What happened to all the colors on the season titles?
- There are far too many red links here for articles. As I plough my way through this mass of copyvios (text ripped-off from http://www.rovang.org/wg/eps.htm, and unsourced/unlicenced images) I'll remove these. CLW 16:23, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
Place holders
[edit]For the pics on the left, if there is no pic for that episode, the logo of that season will be used as a place holder until a suitable pic is found.
Unsourced images
[edit]It appears that the vast majority of the images used on this page (all of which were uploaded by Rick lay95, I think) have no source or copyright information, have been tagged as such for more than 7 days and as such are now candidates for speedy deletion. I'll give it a week or so, but after that I'll tag them all as CSDs, after which they will very rapidly vanish. If Rick lay95 or someone else can confirm their source and copyright information, this will keep them around. --Pak21 12:00, 6 December 2005 (UTC)
- All the pics are either from Rangercentral.com, rovang.org, or rangergallery.com —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.210.89.157 (talk • contribs) .
- Thanks for the information; however, to be usable on Wikipedia, each image needs to be tagged with both its source and its copyright status (I presume most of these images are screenshots and can thus qualify for fair use, but it really needs someone familiar with the images to do this). Cheers --Pak21 09:24, 12 December 2005 (UTC)
The Last Time
[edit]Ok here is what is going to happen. I am going to revert the page, 1 more time. And the following must happen.
1) All images will be replaced and the links returned. If the image is not up to stuff, then I expect that a new image will be uploaded or a PLACE HOLDER photo (see above) will be put in its place. Any image blocks without a photo will have a photo added to it
2) All episode descriptions will return. If there is a problem with the way they are written, then rewrite them DON'T DELETE THEM.
3) All episode titles will have links to pages. If the links are broken don't delete them, WRITE about the episode insted. This is not simply a list.
I have done 99% of the work on this page. But everytime a problem occours, instend of someone fixing the problem by uploading a new pic, writing something, or generaly adding to the page, they take it upon themselves to DELETE EVERYTHING! This must stop! This page is to inform newbies and fans alike about Power Ranger episodes witout them going to 50 diffrent websities to get the information.
So I ask, one last time: Stop deleting stuff and do some work! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rick lay95 (talk • contribs) .
- No. You do not lay down the law. Nor should you continue to insert copyright violations even after you have been warned about this. Please re-read through the messages that have been left on your talk page. CLW 19:13, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Just to explain the situation, for the benefit of any other parties reviewing what has happened here. Rick lay95 uploaded a large number of images without providing source or licensing details. These were tagged as appropriate and Rick lay95 was notified that these needed to have source/licensing details added within the next seven days on his (I assume this editor is male - apologies for making assumptions if I'm wrong) talk page. I also left this message offering to help if he was unsure of the process. He continued to upload images without adding the appropriate details, so I added this message to his talk page. When I checked and found that more unsourced/unlicensed images had been uploaded by this user than I initially realised, I added this message, offering to help yet again.
- Rick lay95 didn't take any action to provide source/licensing details for these images. Once he had had the full week to do this, the images became speedyable, so as part of my work clearing the backlog of such images, I deleted them and removed them from the article. The article also contained copyright violations in the form of a large amount of text taken from a site which states "Content owned by Disney, used without permission." Obviously, I removed this.
- Rick lay95 then re-uploaded the images, this time tagging and sourcing them correctly. However, instead of re-adding them to the cleaned-up article, he simply reverted to an old version, copyright violations and all. This move also reinserted a section which was not written from a neutral point of view and which was unverifiable, as well as another section which merely duplicated information provided elsewhere in the same article. I asked him not to do this in three messages on his talk page, as well as in edit summaries. Another editor stripped out the copy vios, only to have this move reverted. He ignored my polite requests on his user page not to reinsert copy vios into the article, which he ignored. I therefore left him a warning that he would be liable to blocking if he did this again, which he again ignored. I have therefore temporarily blocked him from editing and trust that when this block expires he will continue to improve this article, and others, in line with Wikipedia policies. So whats next? Will this page ever look good again? Or am I, forced to start from scrach AGAIN to make this page good?
Am I the only one who cares about this page? Will any one else do the work that is needed?
-Rick lay
Episode descriptions
[edit]I am no longer using episode descriptions from rovang.org. However, I am spending most of my editing time fixing up the mess left by CLW, and in doing so, restoring, yet fixing, most of the old page. I am bring over the old stuff and making it new. (if that makes sense) If you feel that the episode descriptions need changeing, then rewrite them. Don't just be mad and delete them.
- I removed the descriptions while leaving everything else intact. It's not a matter of being "mad"; it's copyright infringement to have the descriptions in the article at all, since all contributions must be licensed under the GFDL. Evil saltine 06:17, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
I am just tired of doing all the work on this page and everyone else who has a problem with it comes in and deletes everything I have done and dose nothing to FIX the page. If there is problem with the descriptions then go in and rewrite it. What is so hard about that? Why must you delete everything instend of fixing it? I took the time to make this page and fix the problems, why can't someone else help me out?
- We don't have anything against the work you've done on this article. However, copyright rules are non-negotiable. There's nothing "wrong" with the descriptions themselves except that they're copied. They can't be here, not even for a moment. Evil saltine 06:29, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
So... does that mean that you are going to fix them now? Shall I expect to see you start writing episode descriptions for this page? Because it seems to me that on Wikipeida, if you don't like something you delete it and leave it for someone else to fix. Am I right? Or will someone else step in and work on this page?
- It's not that I don't like it, it's that it violates Wikipedia policy. Someone may add original descriptions; that's what a Wiki is for after all. But no, if someone removes content because it violates policy, it's not their responsibility to replace it. It's nobody's "responsibility." Someone will do it if they want to. Evil saltine 06:39, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
- P.S. - If anyone's concerned by the above accusation that I made a "mess" of the article, please read through my account of the situation in the section above! Thanks, CLW 10:16, 7 February 2006 (UTC)
Episode Numbers
[edit]I am currently changeing all the episode numbers from Production Number to cronological order. -zeo6
Split the page?
[edit]Someone has suggested that this page be split into multiple pages. I don't think so. It should remain the way it is until it is completed, then a judgment should be made. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rick lay95 (talk • contribs) .
Format
[edit]When you add episodes to the list, don't simply just list the episodes. What is asked is that ayou follow the following format. And here is the templet so that you may have some help doing it yourself.
|rowspan="2"|File:PIC.jpg || "TITLE" || '''MONTH DAY''', '''YEAR''' || align="center"| EPISODE NUMBER
|-
|colspan="4"| SYNOPISIS
|-
Does this help? -rick_lay95
- Uh, if the list of episodes is all the info available, adding this information is fine as it helps to build the encyclopedia. There's no current consensus that this template has to be used - for example, two editors have stated here that they don't agree with using the red links to individual episodes, and adding these seems pretty pointless to me. Please don't instruct other editors how to edit this page - you don't own this page. Instead, make you suggestions on what you think would be a good way of editing this page, such as proposing the use of your template above, and allow others to give their input. Thanks. CLW 20:04, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
All I am trying to do is show how the format works since several people have posted to this page without following the afore mentioned format. I just thought this would help them out. And as for the red links, I have an obvious solution. If you don't like them, then write for them. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rick lay95 (talk • contribs) .
- "I have an obvious solution"? I have a better solution - please edit in accordance with Wikipedia style guides. Please take the time to read Wikipedia:Manual of Style. Please also read Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context - see particularly the What should not be linked section - it includes "Subsidiary topics that result in redlinks (links that go nowhere), such as the titles of book chapters and the songs on albums, unless you're prepared to promptly turn those links into real ones yourself by writing the articles." Clearly, these episodes should not be red linked. Please do not reinsert the red links, as this is a contravention of the accepted style guide. If you disagree with the style guide, please take your issues to Wikipedia:Village pump.
Removal of "air dates" section
[edit]I've removed the "air dates" section a number of times, each time citing that this duplicates information provided elsewhere in the articles. It's been re-inserted each time, never citing any reason for this. I've removed it again - please see Wikipedia:Editing policy:
- Reasons for removing bits of an article include:

Use of fair use images
[edit]I notice that this article is included in User:Gmaxwell/query fairusecount - it's in the top 20 Wikipedia articles by number of fair use images. It's believed that a limited number of fair use images can be used to illustrate an article, but the use of fair use images in this article goes far beyond that. Some fair use images are even used more than once in this article - Image:PRLGlogo.jpg is used at least a dozen times, which surely contravenes copyright. My proposal is that a single fair use image should be used once - perhaps Image:MMPRlogo.jpg? - and the others be removed. That way, we could be sure that the article would not be breaching copyright. Please share any thoughts... CLW 13:13, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
- Remove 'em. They aren't being used to provide any information, and Wikipedia:Fair use doesn't permit decorative use of non-free images. --Carnildo 04:38, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
The reason the PRLGlogo is used a dozen times is because its a place holder. The series logo is to be put in place of an image from the show until the image is found and uploaded by someone. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rick lay95 (talk • contribs) .
- That's completely irrelevant. What's being discussed here is whether or not the use of fair use images is justified in these cases under copyright law. CLW 14:17, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
They are all copyrighted and I have done everything right when I uploaded them. What is wrong now? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rick lay95 (talk • contribs) .
- Please read the top paragraph of this section. That explains it. Please read up on Wikipedia:Fair use. CLW 16:44, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
