'A business exists solely to increase the status of its shareholders'- A decade ago,a statement like this will not have sparkled widespread public scrutiny. These days,companies can no longer overlook the impact of CSR as an integral part of long-term corporate strategy and decision making. Nestle,Nike,Cardbury and Shell are just a few multinationals who have felt the boomerang effect of their corporate actions or perhaps inactions.
