Current to January 2012[edit]

Site was updated folks! With the latest WEO updates (Jan 2012) and of course the previous WEO from Sept. 2011 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Buryatrider (talkcontribs) 07:59, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The list update is finally finished! Current as of January 2012Buryatrider (talk) 06:03, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Outdated Figures[edit]

The IMF released updated projections in September. I only have the new data from the largest economies. If no one can find the new projections of all the countries in the article I can just go ahead and update those countries' figures. Zulu, King Of The Dwarf People (talk) 20:48, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

European Union[edit]

Doesn't including them on the countries list count some countries twice? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.194.213.146 (talk) 09:04, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

USD vs International Dollar misconception[edit]

Important to remember that PPP currency is the International Dollar whereas the Nominal currency is the US Dollar. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 86.129.143.52 (talkcontribs) 00:05, April 22, 2006 (UTC).

Equatorial Guinea?![edit]

The second richest country in the world in 2006? Surely not! Its main article puts it at 42nd for 2005 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.60.199.37 (talkcontribs) 08:42, May 24, 2006 (UTC).

Re [1] - I would like to know the reason why we should not treat all those places that are not sovereign states in the same way. I'd also like to know why these places, as well as the World and the EU, should not be italicised. Why should The Netherlands be linked instead of Netherlands? — Instantnood 19:13, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your questions are irrelevant, if anything useful was removed during the revert of your usage of parentheses then put it back without also restoring the parentheses. SchmuckyTheCat 03:32, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That's not an excuse to have done those reverts. You have the obligation to revert only what you disagree. (As a matter of fact I made those changes in two separate edits [2]. You have already got the option to revert only what you want to revert.) Please be reminded you have not answered why all those places that are not sovereign states should not be treated in the same way. — Instantnood 06:39, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Editing[edit]

When I first put this page together to be read as a reference alongside the other pages dealing with GDP, I didn't expect to look upon it months later to see the information, which I took directly, I repeat, directly off of the IMF website, to be changed, especially for China's GDP to jump and Americas to fall. That does not correspond to the list from which this information came and I would like editors to please be aware of that. This is a list of estimates which is why the opening to the article mentions that point specifically. I was just randomly looking at the Japan article and it is in horrible shape. In order to avoid that, at the very least on this page, I would like to remind everyone that in order for wikipedia to remain a trusted reference, we must all ensure that all information we put into it is completely accurate and unbiased. All of the information on this page, at least when I first put it together, is completely accurate to my knowledge. One last thing, before editing, please, please, please research, and explain in the talk page. That way we can avoid editing wars.

EAS[edit]

Why is the EAS listed here, if we do that we can even start listing the UN... there is a great difference between the EU and the EAS, NAFTA etc. the EU is an organisation that can already be regarded as 1 economy, this is not the case with EAS, far from it the EAS is a loose organisation, while the EU is a very strict organisation with 1 economy and a constantly closer political and military policy, hardly something that can be sayed for the EAS.

Update from the new IMF report (October 2007)[edit]

Recently I saw that some countries have had their gdp updated (particullarly USA and China), then I saw why, the new IMF report has been released, but whoever updated those countries forgot to mention that he did not the same with all. Well, I updated some more countries, at least the top 9, so they can be compared. I think that may be several others which are still out of date. If someone has the time, it will be good to take a look at the rest, and uptade them according to the new IMF report, after all, that's the cited source, and as it is this is not true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Agramarques (talkcontribs) 14:03, 27 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sortable tables don't work[edit]

Sorting the table gives nonsense, I don't see how to fix this, could someone look into it? -- Patrick —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.32.124.197 (talk) 21:15, 13 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Updated data[edit]

The projected GDP data is practically obsolete give how old they are. It would be wise and useful to update the figures to the newest available. Nirvana888 (talk) 01:01, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Discussion[edit]

A discussion has been started at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Countries/Lists of countries which could affect the inclusion criteria and title of this and other lists of countries. Editors are invited to participate. Pfainuk talk 11:30, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Readability[edit]

How about we change the decimal point to a comma and make the list millions rather than billions? Rich Farmbrough, 20:25, 14 July 2010 (UTC).[reply]

I agree numbers are awkward to read but your suggestion wouldn't change data to millions. Eg: The 2011 World figure is shown as $78,290.734 which is $78,290,734,000 not $78,290,734. Tiddy (talk) 02:48, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

List of countries by future GDP (PPP) estimates needs to be updated,[edit]

Colombia is the last country on the list to have its Gdp ppp estimate figures updated to April 2011 but the Imf ref giving on the same page has complete information for all countries.Netknowle message me! 04:34, 15 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree this needs to be updated![edit]

The GDP PPP figures need to be updated, after Colombia or Pakistan, the other countries have not been updated.Whoever worked on this page needs to complete the job.The one for GDP Nominal is pretty fine and all nations have been updated. This needs to be updated.I will be checking,if it does not change I will come and update the rest.

Reminder, when you update a page, update all in it's entirety.Do not update half the article and leave the other half unfinished. Please!

thats the actual data from imf, its from 2011 September, thats the only official data.--Shokioto22 (talk) 23:35, 10 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Shokioto22, the link you specified is from the April 2011 report. You are correct in that the latest forecast was released in September 2011 (view citations). I took the liberty to update the list per this report. In addition, given the extraordinary circumstances of the on-going debt crisis, I have included the WEO January 2012 update (view citations). Of course, the total list will be updated once again when the first 2012 report is issued.Buryatrider (talk) 06:02, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
for countries specified on the WEO 2012 update, there may be differences between the figures on this list with those on the 2011 GDP PPP wiki page (I don't think they've revised it for the 2012 update). Some notable conclusions of the current update is that India may have surpassed Japan as the world's third largest economy last year.Buryatrider (talk) 06:10, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
