Untitled[edit]

Starting this new page per discussion on Actors who have played multiple roles in the same film. (Which will be moved to List of actors who have played multiple roles in the same film as soon as the AfD period is up.) I'm sure there's many more to add to this. These are a bit harder to find, since they don't stand out on cast lists the same way. But I'm sure people can come up with quite a few. Any suggestions people have for adjusting the criteria for this page are welcome. Basically tried to limit it to significant examples, so the list doesn't just become huge and unmanagable. Looking forward to seeing what other people come up with. --Lurlock 14:41, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The personality disorder case[edit]

What should be done with characters with personality disorders on this list? I'm thinking of cases like Fight Club. Should that count? Erechtheus 06:10, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. That's a good one. I don't think there are too many like that. Most multiple-personality cases in movies are generally played by a single actor rather than two as in this one. The other problem is you can't really mention Fight Club without it being a major spoiler, since you're not supposed to know they're the same person until near the end of the movie. (Not to mention that Ed Norton's character does not have a name that's ever revealed to the audience.) I think both of these two lists might do well to have a "grey-area" subset to deal with cases like this. --Lurlock 14:02, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alphabetizing...[edit]

How do you think I should go about alphabetizing this list? Until now, I was going by last name of the character, but the one I just entered, "Josh" from Big (film), does not seem to have a last name. I put him under 'J' because nothing else made sense. Obviously I can't use the actor's name, because there's two of them, and which one would take precedence? (Obviously Tom Hanks in this case, since he's really the star of the film, but it's not always so clear-cut.) The other option is to alphabetize by movie title, which may be preferable, since at least we know that will exist in every case. Opinions? --Lurlock 14:36, 1 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reincarnation[edit]

Trying to decide what to do about reincarnated characters. Examples would include Perry King and Ellen Barkin in "Switch", Chris Rock and Brian Rhodes in "Down to Earth", Steve Martin and Lilly Tomlin in "All of Me", etc. There's probably a bunch more of these - "Down to Earth", for example, is a remake of a remake, so there's two more potentially. (I'm not sure if they followed the same pattern and had two actors in the same role, however.) It's sort of a cross between the "Swap Identities" category and the "Played Cooperatively" category. A common trope in movies like this is when the character sees their reflection in a mirror, they show the character who died, but we see the living character outside the mirror, so this would mean the two actors played cooperatively. But it also seems like one actor taking over the character of another, which fits in more with swapping identities. "All of Me" is a special case, in that Steve Martin's body is controlled by both characters at once, each of them taking one half. I'm thinking these might be better off put together in a new section, rather than trying to fit them into the existing ones. These might also qualify on the List of actors who have played multiple roles in the same film page. Lurlock (talk) 15:57, 23 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Looper[edit]

I wasn't exactly sure how to count the character of Joseph Simmons in Looper, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis. At first, I placed it under the section "Characters who are played by different actors at different ages." But since they were both in the same time period together through time travel, I placed it in the "Characters played cooperatively by multiple actors at the same time" section. X-Men: First Class & X-Men: Days of Future Past[edit]

What about Mystique, Magneto and Professor X? I think they might fit too, since/as in First Class the former is portrayed by all three actresses while the latter two are portrayed in both of their old and young versions, with the latter even portrayed by a child actor.--שי אביגד (talk) 08:24, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
