Naming?

[edit]

Why are we using Apple code/marketing/product names for PowerPC processors like the 970? As far as I know, the official names for these processors was PowerPC <model>, eg. PowerPC 970. Rilak (talk) 11:35, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's easier to categorize them this way, and people know the G3/G4/G5 names. Even IBM uses the G5 moniker for 970 informally. The G1 was never used and G2 was only used in relation to G3 and G4. By the way.. G3 was a Motorola code name, and G4 is Apple's, but it is/was widely used by Motorola/Freescale for the 74xx/e600 core. -- Henriok (talk) 20:48, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

RS64

[edit]

Shouldn't the A10, A25 and 30 be included? They implemented the PowerPC-AS ISA. Rilak (talk) 11:03, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure! But this list will be far complete even if we include them. -- Henriok (talk) 15:15, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Northbridges

[edit]

Northbridges are not microprocessors so what are they doing here? The title of this list is "List of PowerPC processors", thus it should stay on topic. Rilak (talk) 06:47, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
