Landmarks

[edit]

This page defines places that the city designates as a landmark, so I think that either the title of this article should change, or the places should be reconciled with this site (after which this site would become the main reference for the page). Does this sound right? Which should we do? Best, Smmurphy(Talk) 00:07, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that the title and content are at odds with each other. It might be better to title it "Important Historic Structures and Sites in Omaha"; that could cover the NRHP and NHL properties, as well. What needs to come off the list either way are districts and buildings which neither the city, nor National Park Service have designated as important: i.e., Hanscom Park, Little Bohemia, Little Italy, etc. People interested in those should work offline to nominate them for recognition. It doesn't serve the encyclopedia to include them here. They are covered in neighborhoods anyway. In addition, structures that were demolished but have not been designated as significant should not appear on this page, i.e., President Ford's birthsite.--Parkwells (talk) 12:54, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the extraneous information entirely, and moved the former structures to Architecture in Omaha, Nebraska. When I originally created this list I based it off of Chicago Landmarks; however, I notice now that list is entirely based on the city's designation; by that order the non-city designated places should be removed entirely. I have actually already created a List of Registered Historic Places in Douglas County, Nebraska; I'll work on removing the bad listings here later today. • Freechild'sup? 14:07, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
