this is the first (possibly only?) page I have created that is no longer a stub. Awesome. Ecoli 01:06, 2 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Transfered from this edit by User:68.77.1.234, the not unreasonable question:

One "less famous" klezmer bandleader wonders who has determined this hierarchy--and really cares that they are listed as "more famous" than one of their distinguished contemporaries.

Clearly as Wikipedia is not a directory listings, not every group should be included and the threshold is one of WP:Notability - presumeably one criteria is that the group is notable enough to deserve/have its own article. More problematic is "More" and "Less" famous - on what criteria (relevant is WP:Neutral point of view) ? Other than that, the listings should be in alphabetical order in order for there to be no perceived bias. David Ruben Talk 01:47, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the separation and ordered them. Now someone can review them and see whether they are all notable. --Mbimmler 16:32, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Di Galitzyaner Klezmorim

[edit]

I know of a great (in my opinion) klezmer band from Krakow, by the name of Di Galitzyaner Klezmorim. They don't have a Wikipedia article about them, but I think they deserve being mentioned on this page. What are your thoughts?

No Wiki article, no mention. There have been entirely too many bands listed just 'cause someone thought they were good or important. Where would it end? ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 23:40, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Then do you think it's worth creating an article for them? DrJorin (talk) 01:24, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

[edit]

I've once again cleaned out some of the red links to bands with no wikipedia article. I feel bad deleting the bunch of Argentinean ones, but please create articles for them if they you think they are worth including. Also, I'm not sure about "gypsy-punk-fusion" bands and to what degree they have to play klezmer to be included in this list. Therefore I deleted some but not others.
