List?

[edit]

I'm not really familiar with the criteria for list pages (I know some people dislike them, but I find them really useful). It just seems bizarre to me that this page has all sorts of information, rather than just being a list. It seems like the page either needs to have citations (making it...an article?) or that the descriptions need to be stripped/minimized, because at least some of the information is debatable (such as the origins of "purin"). --Wintersweet (talk) 19:00, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, this page is a bit of a mess, not helped by the fact that the list could be pretty much infinitely long if modern dishes such as purin and meronpan are added. Perhaps this would be better as a list of "traditional" Japanese dishes, or those known before a certain date (let's say 1926, the end of the Meiji Era) --gilgongo (talk) 09:58, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I think that having more information make it more valuable and therefore less likely for deletion than regular list pages. I do wonder whether it should be merged with Japanese cuisine, though, which is similar but not limited to dishes. Rifter0x0000 (talk) 08:33, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No, it's fine to have a list like this. It allows people to be able to find article more easily, as well as see similar articles on similar foods. ···日本穣? · 投稿 · Talk to Nihonjoe · Join WikiProject Japan! 19:55, 7 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Steamboat"?

[edit]

Where did the "steamboat" connection come from? It's not in the actual nabemono article. There is no steaming involved in this dish; it's just boiled. Kortoso (talk) 19:23, 18 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
