Kagome Higurashi's Birthday!

People need to get Kagome's birthday right! It's not possible for her birthday to be in either April or May, the series did NOT begin with her wearing a summer uniform, which is for both Spring and Summer. The uniform that she wore at the beginning of the series was long sleeved, signifying that her birthday is in the Fall or Winter. Kagome's actual birthday is September 24, not May 14 or April 14. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.38.79.230 (talk) 23:31, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

Protagonist

There seems to be some confusion on this when it comes to this series, so let's try to clear this up. It is very possible to have two protagonists in a series, especially in romance, in a series like this, the focus is equally on both Inuyasha and Kagome, despite the story being told from the narration of Kagome herself, we cannot forget that she was the one that wished the Sacred Jewel away, this makes her of equal importance as Inuyasha, she is simply telling her tale, she isn't telling it about Inuyasha, but telling her own story, the story of how she came to the meet Inuyasha, how they started there adventure after Kagome shattered the jewel, met friends and then Kagome destroyed the Jewel for good and returns to her time for 3 years. During those 3 years, we see both sides of the coin, not just one, it is this way for the majority of the series, that does show that they do share the role of protagonist.

With that, Kagome and Inuyasha are the female and male protagonists of the series respectively, the story focuses on both of them, in both of there worlds, they are connected to one another and neither one of them would be around without the other.

We know this because Kagome is a main focus throughout her own time and in the feudal era, and Inuyasha is a main focus in his own time, as well as Kagome's time, this makes them both the female and male lead, because without one, there wouldn't be the other. That gives us a female lead and a male lead, neither of them is a secondary character because they both are focused on together, neither one over the other, this series is one of those rare series where the focus is on two protagonist not just one.

Kagome Higurashi not only starts the plot by shattering the Sacred Jewel, she is also the one to end the plot by shattering the Sacred Jewel and taking down Naraku (the main antagonist).

Inuyasha is a heavy part of the plot and the main love interest of the story, on top of his heroics from battling demons and helping alongside Kagome to collect the Sacred Jewel.

Neither falls under the part of a deuteragonist, a deuteragonist is a "sidekick" that may or may not turn on the protagonist. Examples of a Deuteragonist: Robin (Batman) Dr. Watson (Sherlock Holms), Jim (The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn). Neither of them fall under these because neither one is a sidekick, they are both simply there for each other as love interests, that would make them the male and female leads of the series, this is why both are widely acknowledged as the male and female protagonist, because they are so, neither of them fits the role of a deuteragonist, labeling either as such is incorrect. They are both protagonist, hope that clears up some confusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.172.38.112 (talk) 17:58, 1 November 2012 (UTC)

Inuyasha's Birthday

According to www.myanimelist.net, Inuyasha was born on April 1, making him an Aries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.30.20.181 (talk) 16:00, 20 August 2013 (UTC)

InuYasha versus Inuyasha

So, when Viz licensed the series, they first went Inu-Yasha, both as the name of the series and the main character. After they moved from their Viz Graphic Novel line to their Shonen Jump Graphic Novel line, they made a new logo and the series became InuYasha while the character himself became Inuyasha. This holds true for both the comic and the anime, as well as all other official sources (such as Viz' website). I guess I should mention that Inuyasha is now also used as the name of the series nowadays, like on Viz' website and on Hulu... But that isn't the point I'm trying to make. I'm just saying his name is Inuyasha, and has never been InuYasha, so I would like to correct this mistake on the various pages. Any objections? Linkdude20002001 (talk) 18:19, 15 May 2014 (UTC)

None of the characters have a unique page

I don't think all Inuyasha characters are well known enough to receive a page but the series was one of the oldest shows shown on Adult Swim at least Inuyasha Kagome and Naraku should have pages. A series that is 500 chapters long is clearly culturally relevant enough to warrant pages for the main characters. CensoredScribe (talk) 00:42, 31 January 2014 (UTC) ^ I agree with this. Someone needs to create pages for these three characters, especially Inuyasha and Kagome because there is so much information about them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.189.53.191 (talk) 17:42, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

Excessively detailed

V2Blast Is there anything in particular that caught your eye as "excessive detail". I didn't see anything too out of the ordinary after a quick scan-through. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 05:20, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

  • Some of the character descriptions seem unnecessarily long; the list should contain relatively brief summaries of the characters; the entries should not attempt to describe every single plot event that occurs to each character. In particular, the sections for Sesshōmaru and especially Naraku seem overly long. --V2Blast (talk) 07:05, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Sesshomaru's feelings for Kagura

He did not have compassion for her, they said his heart has what it was LACKING because of Kagura, it can't be compassion he had for Kagura then because his heart was NOT lacking in compassion. Sesshomaru's shown compassion to others plenty of times in the series before so it can't be that. The only kind of feelings Sesshomaru's heart was LACKING in is the romantic kind. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 211.206.249.42 (talk) 09:29, 26 April 2017 (UTC)

Now you're really misinterpreting the dialogue in the series. You keep saying that when Totosai said that Sesshomaru's heart was lacking, you assumed it means romantic feelings, but you yourself are unable to back up your claim. For you to even suggest that clearly shows you are being biased and hypocritical in your statement. You even seem to forgo the fact that Sesshomaru having "romantic feelings" for Kagura was something that was never confirmed in the series. You also completely dismiss the fact that the whole branching moral lesson of the entire series for Sesshomaru is learning compassion, sympathy, and empathy for others.
Throughout the course of the series, Sesshomaru's compassion grew in a matter of steps, starting with Rin, who he saved with Tenseiga after Koga's wolves killed her. But that single act of compassion doesn't mean he was willingly to share it all around with others. Again, Sesshomaru's arc revolves around him learning how to show compassion for other people, opening his heart to feel anger and sorrow for another person's well-being, like Totosai explicitly said in the series. Rin was the first step, and then Kagura died, and the moment Sesshomaru felt sorrow and anger for another person is when Totosai allowed Tenseiga to be reforged. NOWHERE IN THAT MANGA DID IT STATE THAT SESSHOMARU HAS ROMANTIC FEELINGS FOR KAGURA. You are just misinterpreting the words from the manga, forming your own biased conclusion without any evidence, and refusing to follow the rules. You have already been warned by User:The Farix to stop making edits based on speculation. Unless it's explicitly stated in the series Sesshomaru has romantic feelings for Kagura, all you're doing is being disruptive and bias.--68.11.91.158 (talk) 12:37, 26 April 2017 (UTC)
First post did tell evidence, as Sesshōmaru's compassion, sympathy, and empathy were already slowly showing themselves from Jaken, Ah-Un, Rin, etc.. As the second post states, this was in steps, thus in Kagura's appearence or death neither one would have particularly been what put "compassion, sympathy, and empathy" in his heart. He was already developing, and still there after developing this. It is true that Sesshōmaru had few-to-no romantic segments. As both a first time watch, or re-watching, aside from Asano Sara, who one-sided-ly, and we can quote, 'loved' Sesshōmaru, Kagura being seen as a possible confirmed interest from the wording, it's a major stretch. That identified possibility of his affections for her, was something various fans have taken it to be.
(Opinion 1: What would be the significance of having him present for her perish?
Perhaps, even love in general, rather than romantic, is something to consider as well? He saved two people of their dead fate (Jaken & Rin), and can't save Kagura? a little scar to his few emotions? He shows more than compassion at the 'next personal death,' he comes to death with. Dare I say that's fatherly love that drives him to take Rin to his Mother to revive her for the second time.)
(Opinion 2: I'm pretty sure how things were words was intentionally ambiguous for open fan service.)
Since she died, and the series is over, those who say exact words need to be said; you shall never know proof or disproof one way or the other.

Gay vs. homosexual

In these edits [1][2] I changed "homosexual" to "gay", as homosexual is an old clinical term that isn't in wide usage today, is generally considered disparaging to gay people, and is discouraged by WikiProject LGBT studies. Surely there is no need to deliberately marginalize gay folk by using outdated and potentially irritating terminologies, right? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:51, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

You should've linked WP:GAY? in the first edit, even though I have no doubt most people don't think homosexual is offensive, normal logic is to use clinical/scientific terms over slang, we should use what the WikiProject LGBT does. WP:GAY? should be edited to include fictional characters as well, instead of just living people. This incident just showed me to avoid politically correct bullshit. Xfansd (talk) 22:17, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
I don't care whether you think most people think homosexual is offensive or not, what we care about is whether or not gay people think homosexual is offensive or not. Additionally, gay is not slang, it's demonstrably the preferred nomenclature. You should probably brush up on your LGBT knowledge instead of referring to it as politically correct bullshit. I don't particularly care what you do in your personal life, but this is a community project, and such insensitivity and apathy isn't going to win you any admirers here. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:30, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
As a married Intersex, Pansromatic, Greysexual, I can speak to say there aren't many people LGBT+, or otherwise who would mind using "Homosexual," over "Gay," especially in a place where technical terms are of use. I really have to wonder how long everyone has been and will be groaning about silly things. I'd have expected this to be a conversion from yesterday, than 2015. I second the need for political correctness on minor situations to an otherwise off-topic area to be silenced. FanonVSCanon 13:00, 21 September 2017 (JST)
@FanonMyShipsArentCanon: This is a conversation from 2015 that seems to have been resolved. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 04:38, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
