Why is this article within Wikiproject Wales? Some of the subject will be from Wales and / or will sit in Wales. Does this of itself merit inclusion in the project?Informed Owl (talk) 07:49, 13 January 2011 (UTC)Informed Owl[reply]

"and then by order of appointment" - is that most recently appointed at the top, or the bottom of the list? Shouldn't it be clear?158.143.2.197 (talk) 15:32, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No. The word "then" makes it very clear. --Kittybrewster 15:36, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It is clear: "by order of appointment" means, obviously, "in the order that they were appointed". If the most recent judge was at the top, it would say "in reverse order of appointment" or some such phrase. BencherliteTalk 15:39, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Judicial titles

[edit]

This list now no longer includes each judge's judicial title, and I have been reverted when I have readded them. At the moment, therefore, no one reading this article is able to tell whether a judge is "Mr Justice Smith" or "Mr Justice John Smith". I am utterly baffled as to why this should be so. A list of judicial office holders that fails to tell you what they are called in a judicial context is, in my opinion, clearly lacking. Am I really alone in this view? new appointments

[edit]

Christopher Nugee is listed as assigned to the Queen's Bench Division but is in fact assigned to the Chancery Division. See <http://www.justice.gov.uk/news/judicial-appointments/judicial-240713-110>

Nice page - thanks YellowFratello (talk) 16:57, 24 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Lots of updating needed here: Neil Garnham; Simon Picken; Philippa Whipple; Juliet May; Bobbie Cheema. Bernard Eder has resigned. Philip Sales, David Richards and Keith Lindblom are now in the CA.Ironman1104 (talk) 17:18, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Historical list?

[edit]

It'd be nice to have a historical list. Haydn's Book of Dignities, which is available on the Internet Archive, lists them up to 1887 or so, but obviously that leaves over a century. But I'm sure there must be lists somewhere! We do seem to have articles on most of them, so a list to organize it all would be very useful. john k (talk) 10:56, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Update list of High Court of England and Wales judges

[edit]

This list is outdated and needs review. Can it be updated to remove retired judges and add those recently appointed.

An up to date list can be found on https://www.judiciary.gov.uk/about-the-judiciary/who-are-the-judiciary/senior-judiciary-list/. 194.33.196.5 (talk) 17:29, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Done The one judge whose time on the bench had expired was removed, and the one judge's name who replaced them was added. All the other judges on this list are current according to the list. The source you provided does not otherwise list the date of a judge's departure from the bench.   SPINTENDO          18:55, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mandatory retirement age 75

[edit]

Now that the mandatory retirement age has been increased to 75, the list and the mandatory retirement dates need to be updated. Solipsism 101 (talk) 06:27, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
