Yes, the past perfect tense describes things of the past that extend into the present.

Official names and trademarks

AMTRAK in all capitals has always been the official name of that company and its registered trademark. Whoever wrote "Amtrak" the first time in the Wikipedia made a BIG mistake that needs to be stamped out. Yes, there is precident for this in the names and trademarks of companies like AT&T, FRISCO, and IBM. All you needed to do was to look at all of the railroad box cars with FRISCO painted on their outsides. 98.67.166.209 (talk) 21:12, 9 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
