AfD in 2014 does not apply to article created in 2016

List of albums per year are dependent on current news. When this article was deleted in 2014, it was too far advance of the year to have reliable news sources predicting albums. Now, in the middle of 2016, bands are able to list if their albums will be released in 2017. Do not delete this article without a new AfD discussion. Mburrell (talk) 17:44, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

Album Notability

In an edit summary, @FanofMusic: asked "What does the album not having a published Wiki page have anything to do with it being on 2017 albums? This is a list of albums that are TBR, and some of these don't have pages either." In answer, not having a Wikipedia page is not proof of non-notability of an album or artist, but a symptom. The List of 2017 albums article is a list of albums to be released in 2017, but not all albums need to be listed on the list. Wikipedia has a criteria of notability for music and albums, and albums that fail to show notability do not need to be shown on the list, and can be removed. It is the responsibility of the poster of the album information to provide sufficient evidence of notability in the form of citations to prove the notability of the albums. If the album already has a Wikipedia article, there is inherent evidence of an initial assumption of notability, which can be examined by visiting the album article and reviewing what citations were provided for the article. However, as an example, Sevdaliza was initially listed on this list when neither she nor her album had a Wikipedia article, but by searching for news articles, several highly reputable music magazines had articles about her and her album, which proved the notability even without a citation. Therefore, when noticing that several albums don't have Wikipedia articles, please then take a look at the citations and see whether you would agree that the citation is from a reputable source and whether notability is proven in that manner. If an album is removed for non-notability, it is generally because the removing editor did not find any proof of notability. Sorry for the long answer, but I hope that answered your question. User is claiming "mixtapes are not albums"

Opening a discussion on behalf of Drake1986, a relatively new editor who is under the impression mixtapes are not albums, despite the fact that they are regarded as such on general in Wikipedia, and refuses to provide reasoning beyond this. We include mixtapes on this list; Gucci Mane's DropTopWop, for example, is included. On Wikipedia, the article mixtape quotes the essayist Geoffrey O'Brien as saying: "'Mixtape' is also used in hip hop to describe certain types of recordings, typically self-produced and independently released albums" (emphasis added). Drake1986, please discuss here before reverting any further, because as a new editor, you're not off to a great start here on Wikipedia by reverting without comment. You should have stopped after being reverted the first time. Pinging contributors Mburrell and Another Believer for comment. Ss112 10:47, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Forgot to add above: Feel free to revert my most recent edit to the page if you disagree with its removal, as I self-reverted. Ss112 16:57, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
For the purpose of this list, albums are considered to be per the description in the primary paragraph of the article, "An album is a collection of audio recordings issued as a single item on CD, record, audio tape or another medium." In addition, as mentioned by Ss112, the mixtape can be considered an album, per the third paragraph in the article, ""Mixtape" is also used in hip hop to describe certain types of recordings, typically self-produced and independently released albums that are issued free of charge to gain publicity and/or circumvent possible copyright infringement." This list and others in the series accept mixtapes, EPs, studio albums, compilations, live albums, so basically anything released by a notable artist providing a creative musical work that is a collection of songs, as long as the release can be shown to be notable in it's own right. Ss112 was correct to revert the workds of Drake1986 as being too narrow in the focus of the purpose of the list. Mburrell (talk) 04:28, 12 June 2017 (UTC)

Upcoming Eminem is expected to release later this year. The link is right there: http://www.nme.com/blogs/nme-blogs/new-eminem-album-1814393 Brady108 (talk) 07:09, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Sorry, but the link provided uses the word blog right in the URL. The list needs reputable news sources, not thinly supported articles written as blogs. Web search for a more reputable source found none that was not speculative, which given the market share of Eminem, is indicative that there is no definitive plans for a 2017 release date.
