Copy Protection[edit]

Didn't this game have some kind of unusual or interesting copy protection?

I don't recall there being anything other than the standard bad-sector copy protection that Toolworks used on everything. I wasn't heavily involved with this project, so maybe there was something I missed. Or maybe it was on Life & Death II, which was developed after I left the company. I had it for the Apple II GS and don't recall anything unusual regarding copy protection. Can't vouch for other platforms. My two cents. norm77 22:23, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes it did. Mid-game, before surgery started, the nurse would tell you that you got a page, which you had to look up on a card, included in the game box. If you didn't call back your page on the reception phone, the action would halt the second you started to cut into a guy, with the nurse saying something like "you know, you really should answer your messages". I know this because I have a licensed copy of this game, box and all sorts of included documents, except that card. The game also has a writeup on gamefaqs that describes this. Still, this method of copy protection (entering something from a random page in the instruction manual mid-game) was not terribly uncommon in its time, so I don't know if it really needs to be added to the article. -Verdatum (talk) 22:10, 4 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures[edit]

I can take more screenshots if wanted, but I don't have any cover art so I'll leave the photo req in place.

I have the original box. I'll scan it in and upload it. Capmango 21:35, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yay! I've removed the photo req. Koala man 17:23, 1 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have all the materials from almost every box version if you are interested. Jakesmith 21 April 2007

Found a quality you-tube video showing the box contents and the game play. YouTube title: "LGR : Life and Death - Apple IIGS Game Review", Published on Aug 11, 2012 by user phreakindee JoshTW (talk) 04:29, 30 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
