A good approximation to a common idea of lavender would be the color of a formerly blue Wikipedia link that has turned a shade of light violet because you have already been to that article. This color, Wikipedia lavender, which could be described as dull deep lavender or pale dull medium violet , is reproduced in the color box at right.

I'm not inclined to believe that any of the sources refer to this as "Wikipedia link lavender", considering Wikipedia didn't exist yet. Feel free to add it back if you can find a reference that does, though. - (), 19:59, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hilarious!

Source

[edit]

I removed a source of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Single_lavendar_flower02.jpg for the info box, which in turn replaced a link to another Wikipedia. Wikipedia articles are never sources; if an article contains some information you should refer onwards to the original source. In any case, that was a picture. I want to emphasise my interpretation of Wikipedia's guidelines: that a photograph cannot be a source of a named color value, and if that is the only source, it must be removed. Lavender Bandana / Chihuahas?

[edit]

The section on Lavender bandana says the color is taken from the bandana at http://www.chihuahuasforever.com/. I see no bandana there, and I'm not clear why chihuahas would be canonical as color sources anyway. The link seems to have been there for a while, and I don't know how to search for when it was added/changed... Boojum 20:23, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Floral Lavender?

[edit]

The introductory paragraph refers to a color "shown below as floral lavender" but there is no mention of floral lavender on the rest of the page. Josephmarty (talk) 19:06, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's listed as "Lavender (floral)". Keraunos (talk) 05:44, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Art Deco lavender?

[edit]

Can anyone advise what shade of lavender was characteristic of Art Deco? Zoe Ocean 09:34, 31 July 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zoe Buchanan (talkcontribs)

Amethyst

[edit]

Both the text and the color coordinates template used Maerz and Paul as a reference. That book seems likely to be appropriate to support the existence of the name of the color it is unlikely that it contains the hex codes or any other color coordinates. I changed the reference to a site which does support the codes.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:47, 25 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Possible removal from list

[edit]

Entries in List of colors: A–F contained links to this page.

The entries are :

  • Brilliant lavender
  • Dark lavender
  • Deep amethyst
  • Electric lavender
  • Halayà úbe
  • Lavender indigo
  • Lavender rose

An entry in List of colors: N–Z contained a link to this page.

The entry is :

  • Rich brilliant lavender
  • Rich lavender
  • Ube

I don't see any evidence that these colors are discussed in this article and plan to delete them from the list per this discussion: Talk:List_of_colors#New_approach_to_review_of_entries

If someone decides that these colors should have a section in this article and it is added, I would appreciate a ping.--S Philbrick(Talk) 18:54, 10 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
