Pot Luck and Potluck

[edit]

"Pot Luck" should redirect or include a link to "Potluck", as it is commonly used with that meaning, and I've never heard about the movie. -- 00:04, 27 December 2005 (UTC)

Name

[edit]

Name is Americo-centric, I'm changing it to the international English translation, if I can. If not, I ask whoever can, to do so. - Dalta 15:41, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thought it's the US title, The Spanish Apartment is far from being a partisan choice for the article name, since it's the English title that most resembles the original title (L'auberge espagnole, apart from the idiom, translates littrally to something around "the Spanish inn") and some other countries' titles (the Portuguese and Spanish titles also translate to "the Spanish inn", for instance). —Rotring 16:32, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Name The Spanish Apartment is fine, because it is also related to content of the film. But the "literal" translation wouldn't be the "The Spanisch inn", "auberge" is a broader concept, it means "accomodation". It can be an "inn", but also a private appartment. The actually the message of the film and I changed the side accordingly.

Fair use rationale for Image:Aubergeespagnole.jpg

[edit]

Image:Aubergeespagnole.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:11, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Name, again

[edit]

I've moved it back to its original title -- it's the most commonly used name for the film, even in English-speaking countries. —Nightstallion 19:19, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Where? I've never seen it referred to by its Spanish name. Rebecca (talk) 23:35, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Naturally, as its original name is not Spanish, but French. ;) Seriously, though, in all the English sources I've read on the film (including, for instance, IBDM), the original French title was used. —Nightstallion 17:53, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Clearly the article simply needs to be brought back to the original French title, which should resolve these conflicts. Wolfdog (talk) 15:54, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pot Luck (2002 film)L'Auberge espagnole – Disputes over which English title to move this article to has been unproductive and largely based on the national biases of the users involved. I suggest, then, that the article be moved to its original French title (which is also often used in English-speaking countries). Wolfdog (talk) 16:19, 6 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Support, Google news seach "Cedric Klapisch" 2001-2004 shows many anglophone articles using the French title. jnestorius(talk) 09:44, 7 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
