Comment 1[edit]

Yes people are saying that Kyo gets te curse taken off him, but people are also saying that Momiji gets the curse taken off him. I really dont know yet...:D

Comment 2[edit]

Kyo is the 'bad boy' of the series, don't you think? He is indeed. The orange hair is a bit... unique, but I love it! Miley1006 (talk) 02:38, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fictional Orphan?[edit]

I'm wondering about the placement of Kyo is the Fictional Orphan category. His mother is dead, but his father is alive. He disowned Kyo, either officially or unofficially, and Kyo was adopted by Kazuma. If he was not officially disowned, does he still qualify as an orphan? Mayuko 02:31, 12 April 2006 (UTC) No, his dad is not dead.[reply]

Kyo would be considered an orphan as his father is unwilling to take care of him, and indeed doesn't. He's 'adopted' in a way by Kazuma. Your parents don't have to be dead for you to be an orphan. RiotMonday 21:56, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

kyo sohma[edit]

Kyo Sohma is a very strong and sweet guy. Although he can hide his sweetness very well. He is always fighting Yuki Sohma becuase he and Akito made a bet that if he could beat Yuki Sohma then Akito wouldnt lock Kyo up for the rest of his life! Tohru doesnt know that yet and niether does Yuki, but i hate to say that even if Yuki did know he wouldnt let Kyo win just becuase of how much he hates him. Speaking of! The reason they hate each other so much is, becuase of the story some people say, but really its becuase they are jealus of each other. Yuki wants to be out of the Sohma family and Kyo wants to be int he Sohma family so therefor they hate each other becuase they think of each other as stupid and ignorent people. Anyways, Kyo Sohma is the cat in the story. He is neglected by everyone becuase of it. Then came along Thoru Honda, it took a while to get used to having a girl in the house, but when he got used to it he found himself having feelings towards Tohru and so far his feelings have only been getting stronger. Tohru's friends Hana-jima san and Arisa are also noticing that Kyo has been able to talk more and also be able to hold his temper back when he needs to the most. All we know so far is that kyo will always be there for Tohru when she needs him the most!

Some people thing he is an orphan, but some dont because his father is still alive. But,becuase his mother comited suicid and died his father disowned him. There for he has no parents! So yes! He is an orphan! You see his father was always cruel to Kyo becuase he was the cat and he was always telling him he should always be like his Grandfather who was locked away for the rest of his life for being a cat! Then his mother killed herself and nobody knew why,but some people thought it was becuase she had Kyo as a son..people like his father. So his father disowned him and sent him away. So thats why he IS an orphan.

beads[edit]

my girlfriend gave me beads that was exactly (purposely) like kyo's, now she told me they were from fruits basket and i havent the time to watch it to figure it out so i came here, i read this whole article thus RUINING the show for me, and all i saw was "In Chapter 130, after Kyo and Tohru discover that he is free from the cruse, Kyo tears off the beads on his wrist now that he no longer needs them" what about why he had them? where is this? why is this? did it somehow block the curse? that is what i can only assume from the ONLY information given on the beads felinoel 03:18, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To answere your question! You find out in the 6th volume that Kyo is also cursed with the spirit of the cat and everytime he takes those beads off he turns into a "monster" as people called it, but really all it is is the spirit of the cat living inside him. Tohru excepted him even when he was in the "monster form". So thats why he wears the beads and if he is not a member of the zodiac then he does not need them on anymore!

ok, thank you, but why is it not in the article?
felinoel 04:32, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it's because people just write the recent stuff and forget about the past. They just update Kyo's page, not Yuki's or Tohru's or anyone elses. I like Kyo though. But they still have to put everything in, or else people who are new to Furuba are gonna get confused!

How to pronounce Kyo's name.[edit]

At first, I thought the 'y' was pronouced as an 'i'. (As in why, my, rye, and bye.) But my friends told me the 'y' was pronounced as an 'e'. (Kyo = Leo, Rio, Neo?) So which is it?

Yes, it is like that. You say it like "Key-o". Like a key. And most people now also spell it Kyou, and I think that's how it is in the Japanese version of the manga.

That's not how they spell it in the [En] manga, though, so I'm gonna go with that.

No, it's not like "key-o". That'd be "Kio". The ky sound here is like the first syllable in "cute". The spelling "Kyou" indicates the "o" sound is lengthened. It could also be written as "Kyoo" or "Kyoh" or "Kyō". 65.190.56.81 18:14, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As a (semi =/) Japanese speaker, it is 'KYO-' or 'Kyou'. The 'O' at the end is held longer because of an extra 'U' to so to prolong it. This is also shown in 'TOUKYOU' (Tokyo in English ^_^) user:日本雪霜

When spelled Kyo, the 'o' is short and the 'y' sounds like 'ee'. Kee-oh. When spelled Kyou, it's the same, but the 'o' lasts a bit longer.

It's pronounced KYO. Like in Kyoto. In Japan, the "i" makes an "ee" sound. Kyo doesn't have an "i" in it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mieko Yagyu (talkcontribs) 00:45, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Help........[edit]

Someones added under Kyo's name "whom sux" or something like that. I cant find a way to get rid of it so if someoe could...I'd apriciate it. I'm gonna keep trying but just so you know.... also, in future could peoplerefrain from doing that. its stupid. thank you!60.224.28.210 05:14, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's already been fixed. You know, you could do it yourself in the future. Yes, it is stupid to add vandalism, that is why we hand out warnings. Thanks for the tip though. --Kyo cat¿Quíeres hablar? 05:19, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
ok, i found out that

it IS ponouced kee-oh! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.22.94.121 (talk) 02:18, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

"Kyo Sohma (草摩 夾 , Sōma Kyō?) is a fictional character in the manga and anime series entitled Fruits Basket. He transforms into a 'crappy orangecat' whenever he is hugged by the opposite gender or his body comes under a great deal of stress."

In the first paragraph someone has vandalised Kyo's introduction. I can't find a way to alter this, so could someone else do it for me? Many thnx

Also.. FRUITS BASKET RULES! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.42.101.94 (talk) 22:55, 18 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Done and done. Yes, Fruits Basket is cool. --Tohru HondaSign here! 23:00, 18 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Similarities and differences between Kyo Sohma and Ichigo Kurosaki.[edit]

Can someone create a Similarities And Differences Between Kyo Sohma And Ichigo Kurosaki Page/Thread/Post/Something/anything. I mean, many sites are compairing them. Why not this site as well. Even if you have to put this in another aticle or something, can someone please create one.

As they are in entirely different manga and anime, such should not be placed here. And wikipedia isn't a place to compare anime characters. RiotMonday 21:59, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler tag needed?[edit]

There seems to a lot of random spoilers interspersed throughout this article. Would it be appropriate to add a Spoiler tag? 65.190.56.81 18:21, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ya really!! It spoiled the whole series for me! Now I'm screwed. I am sooo sad. Put a spoiler sign on it -.- user:日本雪霜

Anime[edit]

I noticed that this article seems to mostly deal with the manga storyline; does it? I have never read the manga but I am watching the anime. Do Kyo and Tohru end up together in the end of the anime? Or is the anime ending different from the manga one? I'd just like to know.-Taliesin

Yes, this follows the manga storyline. The anime follows a slightly different storyline and ends MUCH sooner, as it was made after the manga. The anime pretty much ends where Tohru goes after Kyou during his transformation and brings him back.

Development and Reception[edit]

Per the manual of style guidelines for chararacter articles, I've added sections for Development and Reception of Kyo. I've collected a various tidbits of information, culled from Takaya's author notes and reviewers, respectively, for filling out these sections, which I'll be adding as I continue cleaning up the character articles. Till I finish dropping them here, though, and can figure out how to edit them, they probably won't read pretty. Please don't let my work stop others from adding this information, though -- the more the better. (The source for citation needed bit there currently is the Fanbook Cat -- I just haven't gotten around to finding the page number again.) —Quasirandom (talk) 15:04, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
