Engineering calculation check

[edit]

The penstock location at the wye doesn't appear in any official documents. It was derived from the licensing document for length from the power station, and overhead mapping where scars are visible from the emplacement of the pipes. Checking figures with this calculator matches the rated 13 MW capacity of the plant, if you use 490 m head, the stated max flow rate and 80% efficiency as an input. If it is accurate, the head is pretty substantial: compare to what's listed at Wikipedia as the world's greatest head at Bieudron Hydroelectric Power Station, 1869 m. — Brianhe (talk) 22:24, 9 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The wye location is a bit technical for an article, so if there's some uncertainty it isn't a big loss for the article. It's amazing how much effort goes into that 13 MW. Bieudron intakes a lot more water I believe.--NortyNort (Holla) 23:28, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
