Is he really a "later monarch"?

King Gale is said to have been "one of the later monarchs before the White Witch began her 100-year reign of terror", but I find that doubtful. He must have lived at around year 300 (10 generations x 30 years) and the White Witch reigning Narnia from 900. Or were there no monarchs during those centuries?
