List of the singers

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

The list of khaliji singers from different countries is probably so wrong and no reference is provided. At least about the singers from Iran, I am pretty sure that their genre is not Khaliji and actually their music is very different from each other too. Going through some articles about their music I did not find any mention of Khaliji music and there was no mention of it even in mainstream media. A couple of them are known for Bandari music and the rest are just popular Iranian singers with zero connection with Khaliji music.

I believe the definition of this genre is not clearly defined in the article and the list of singers is far from accurate. I suggest the writer provide some references for each singer and modify them in accord with concrete references.

Thank you, PonciK (talk) 07:50, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I cleaned up the list yesterday. Most of the listed articles did not even mention "Khaliji," at least not in a musical context (I kept those that did; in one case I kept a would-be red link that at least cited a source). A few articles did mention the word "Khaliji" in the context of the geographic area, or the Arabic dialect. It seemed as though someone was compiling a list here of anyone & everyone who ever recorded music in the Arabic language, but it was even broader than that (to include Greek-, Hebrew- and Persian-language singers; Cat Stevens; and a wrestler from Iran). FYI I think I might've been drawn to this article via this article; it is currently cited (once) as a source (and I might've been the one who added it). -- Gyrofrog (talk) 16:47, 19 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
