Kaska Nation - treaty group[edit]

Kaska Nation is another term for a grouping which is described on the BC Govt Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation page for the Kaska Nation this way:

"Kaska Nation is a treaty group made up of the Kaska Dena Council, Liard First Nation and Ross River Dena Council. The Kaska Dena Council is a society incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia. It includes the Dease River and Kwadacha bands and Lower Post First Nation (Daylu Dena Council). Canada does not classify the Lower Post First Nation as a band, but rather as one of eight reserves belonging to the Yukon-based Liard First Nation. However, Lower Post is the only Liard reserve within the boundaries of the Province of British Columbia and is represented by a vice-chief."</ref>

I'm "Kaska'd out" for the day, but wanting to note this for later; most treaty groups are not written up yet anyway; NB please do not make a Kaska Nation link directing to Kaska or the Kaska Tribal Council so that a fresh page can be made without resorting to a formal renaming proposal.Skookum1 (talk) 20:11, 31 January 2009 (UTC)
