Notability

[edit]

Article fails to establish this journal's notability.E.M.Gregory (talk) 21:54, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Huh?? Searching "Journal of Palestine Studies" gives about 231,000 results.Huldra (talk) 21:59, 5 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There is no specific guideline for notability of academic journals, but the closest is Wikipedia:Notability_(books)#Academic_and_technical_books. It passes easily. If it didn't pass, then the rules should be changed since this publication is extremely notable by any reasonable standard. Zerotalk 07:58, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I ask where is WP:GNG that discuss the journal? --Shrike (talk) 08:53, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There are two in the article, but that's not even necessary. It is notable on account of the thousands of academic sources that cite it. Nothing more is needed. And this discussion is a waste of time. Zerotalk 12:33, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
According to what policy?I am sorry but one half sentence is not WP:GNG.See [[1]] there were much stronger sources and yet it was deleted. --Shrike (talk) 13:15, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That isnt a journal. Wikipedia:Notability_(academic_journals) appears to be an essay and not a guideline, but if we accept that essay tho, per Wikipedia:JOURNALCRIT this satisfies both The journal is considered by reliable sources to be influential in its subject area. and The journal is frequently cited by other reliable sources. Otherwise, WP:TBK seems to be the closest match, and that says possible bases for a finding of notability include, in particular, whether the book is published by an academic press, how widely the book is cited by other academic publications or in the media. This is both published by an academic press and widely cited in other academic publications. This is getting silly. nableezy - 16:49, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
