Age when he died

[edit]

Was Beckley 50 or 51 when he died? It says both ages. —Preceding unsigned comment added by WWEFAN99 (talkcontribs) 21:57, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Year of death

[edit]

As noted in the previous post there was some ambiguity within the article as to the year of Beckley's death. I've changed all to 1918 since the majority of the sources I found listed that year, not 1919. Included, the MLB Hall of Fame, which one would assume to be highly accurate. Took the liberty of fleshing out the Wiki with some more info on his early career, personal life, and post-playing days as well. Just MHO but it would be great if another photo or two could be added -- perhaps of his Hall of Fame plaque if the Wiki licsensing works out. Sector001 (talk) 04:17, 7 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Stats don't jive with MLB.com

[edit]

Where are the current career stats displayed in the info box sourced from? MLB.com disagrees with all of them.[1] Zepppep (talk) 00:58, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure who placed those stats there or the reliability of the source, but by all means if a good source like MLB.com has more accurate ones follow the Wikipedia creedo and be bold. Change them if you want. Have a great Wiki kinda day! Sector001 (talk) 02:46, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Baseball-Reference.com lists 2,934 career hits, including 167 when he was a member of the Pittsburgh Burgher's of the Players League in 1890. However, not even including those hits, that would be 2,767 career hits; still not sure how MLB has him with 2,763.Zepppep (talk) 03:36, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
And the Baseball HOF lists 2,930 on his plaque![2] Zepppep (talk) 03:39, 22 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and used what the HOF has on the plaque for hits. For RBI, I used Baseball-Reference. It would make sense MLB.com would provide his stats for when he was playing in the MLB. Still don't know where the difference in numbers come from, even when comparing his PL and MLB numbers...I also cited the career hits in the stat box, which I know isn't typical for a stat box to have a ref, but figured it was necessary in this situation. An issue regarding career stats should be brought to WT:BASEBALL. Others might have a better idea on what to do. – Muboshgu (talk) 15:08, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
