Ferengi

[edit]

I think i recall seeing a TOS episode featuring the Ferengi's. That would make the statement that they first appeared in TNG incorrect? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.213.174.104 (talk) 22:09, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Writer on Maverick?

[edit]

Perhaps he was a writer on the sequel to Maverick, "The New Maverick". He would be too young to write on the original "Maverick".99.103.230.224 (talk) 03:07, 13 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Eye health

[edit]

Why does Mr. Behr never not wear sunglasses? Does he have some eye problem? 99.163.49.6 (talk) 02:11, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fashion choice I think. A quote from an online chat with him (http://www.startrek.com/startrek/view/community/chat/archive/transcript/1372.html): "Five years after I graduated from college, I met a girl who I had gone to school with on a New York City subway train. We said hello and about the first thing she said to me was, "Boy I really hated you back in those days. You used to walk across campus wearing these mirrored sunglasses, ignoring everyone." "I don't think I saw your eyes for four years." Now you have to understand, this is a person I thought liked me. I haven't taken my sunglasses off since. I don't know what it means." -- JoeD80 (talk) 00:53, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The above link is dead, here is an archive copy. In the chat transcript he says it is merely an affectation. -- 109.78.198.204 (talk) 03:37, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Short and Biased

[edit]

This article is rather short and slightly biased, he has to have generated some sort of controversy with the fans, I'm one and I think he helped dumb-down Star Trek and turn it into lowest-common-denominator-TV-tripe. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.164.37.128 (talk) 14:03, 4 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I'm another. And you'll notice his career never recovered from DS9. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:241:401:22f0:80cd:6c10:3245:3a53 (talk) 16:12, 22 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please give any examples for your accusations? This is no fan forum and if your opinion is supposed to extend this article, we will need more info and sources. KhlavKhalash (talk) 19:48, 10 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Blue beard

[edit]

Behr explained the blue beard[1] essentially it was a reaction to working in the corporate offices of Viacom while writing the 4400. It was partly inspired by Billy Connelly and suggested by his wife and kids. I can't decide if it is insightful or trivial, so I leave it up to someone else to decide if they want to include it in the article or not. -- 109.78.198.204 (talk) 03:37, 24 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Laura Behr

[edit]

I added a little information about Laura Behr. There wasn't enough information to start a Personal life subsection further down the page, so I added it somewhat awkwardly near the top. According to an article at Encylopedia.com[2] Ira and Laura married in 1986 and have two children, and although I expect that is based on public records of births deaths and marriages but I wouldn't know where to begin to look to confirm that for sure. Unreliable sources Memory Alpha page for Laura Behr and Laura Behr on IMDB have a little more information, a twitter profile of Laura Behr says she studied physics, and a LinkedIn profile says almost nothing at all. I found various random credits for dance and ballet productions which are almost certainly the same Laura Behr. Laura and Ira worked on the tv series Fame in 1987.

The information is essentially more Star Trek information because those were the most reliable reference materials that were readily available. I just wanted the article to note the basics, that Ira is married to Laura and they have two children but wasn't really able to find reliable enough sources to do that. -- 109.77.207.230 (talk) 16:05, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
