[edit]What does "Since its foundation in 1960 it has been embroiled in several controversies caused by the different cultural training of the commissioners, finished in 1999" mean?Royalcourtier (talk) 07:40, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

[edit]User:Alberto2822 keeps removing historical information due to his opinion. This is all his own POV, but does not change historical facts. He does not seem to have either a user page ,nor a talk page. Kiltpin (talk) 23:29, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

Unsourced, subjective assertions in lede
[edit]The third paragraph appears to have been inserted into the lede by a different editor than the rest of the lede. It asserts "Initially, notably in 1964–1999, the organisation was embroiled in several controversies caused by the different cultural training of its commissioners. The root of some of these controversies stems from the unavoidable bias inherent in the ICOC's governing structure as a private, non-governmental organization.[citation needed] The Commission as a private body lacks any legal jurisdiction to unilaterally declare anything other than what amounts to a private opinion." (emphases added) Claims of "different cultural training" and "unavoidable bias" (determined by whom?), and stating that the ICOC can only issue private opinions, appear to be an attempt to discredit the ICOC, without providing any justification for doing so, especially in lieu of any sources to support these claims. On the other hand, it is reasonable to suggest that an organization devoted to the study of chivalric orders which includes persons such as Prince Bertil of Sweden, Archduke Otto von Habsburg (the Grand Master and fons honorum of the Austrian branch of the Order of the Golden Fleece), the Patron Cardinal of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the Grand Master emeritus of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre, and Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna of Russia (Grand Mistress and fons honorum of the Order of Saint Catherine) may have better qualifications to opine on the subject than nearly anyone else one might propose. Since this paragraph is completely devoid of any sources for its assertions, I will give its editor (or any editor) a month or two to clean it up. If that doesn't happen, I will strike it in its entirety for failing WP:RS. Bricology (talk) 06:58, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
