Acronym
[edit]Suggest move to Acronym INSERM - English speakers will not be looking for French expanded name. Commonly considered INSERM by english sources.--ZayZayEM (talk) 01:22, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Move
[edit]This article was moved without previous discussion to an English title. However, INSERM is hardly known under the English translation of its name. If anything, it's known outside of France as "INSERM". I propose to move the article back to its full French name, with the English name and "INSERM" being kept as redirects to that name. --Randykitty (talk) 12:46, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
Requested move 11 August 2016
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: page moved per alternate proposal. Andrewa (talk) 20:53, 19 August 2016 (UTC)

@Cherry and Andy M. Wang: FYI. Philg88 ♦talk 15:20, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- Contesting. @Cherry:, this looks like it may go against WP:ENGLISH. — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 14:54, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- Actually WP:ENGLISH may lead to name the article Inserm, as it's the "version of the name of the subject which is most common in the English language". Although the link is relevant, "French National Institute of Health and Medical Research" is more a direct translation than an actual title. Almost nobody ever use it, and scientific publications of the institute are attributed to "Inserm". talking Cherry 15:43, 11 August 2016 (UTC)

- @Philg88: Thanks (somehow I didn't get the ping). @Cherry: Inserm (or INSERM) sounds all right. — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 15:47, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- @Andy M. Wang: Sorry I forgot to ping. If think Inserm is the prefered case, so Inserm would be good. talking Cherry 16:27, 11 August 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose as initially suggested, Support Inserm as discussed with initial proposer who agrees above. (No qualms for INSERM) — Andy W. (talk · ctb) 05:20, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- Relisting comment: We seem to have consensus on a move either to INSERM or to Inserm, but to which? Andrewa (talk) 13:00, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Closing comment: Thanks, user:Cherry, in glorious hindsight I could have assessed consensus on the move target too, so I'm going to pre-empt my own relisting and do the move I should have done before. Andrewa (talk) 20:53, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
