"I never thought I'd live to be a pedant" (who am I kidding.. )

[edit]

Just to note that the original vinyl album sleeve gives "I Never thought I'd live to be a hundred"; all the vinyl label titles are wholly upper-case; oddly, the CD cover has "I never thought I'd live to be a Hundred"; and the band's website points to Amazon which has "I Never Thought I'd Live To Be A Million". So I guess this is a case of wiki house-style producing something in between all four, which might be seen as misleading? But not sure which would be regarded as "correct". The lyric "An age ago my maker was refusing me the pleasure of the view" coupled with the introduction Higher and Higher suggests that this album is the Moody's stab at theology. The idea is that mankind redeems the fall from grace (the expulsion from Eden or the Heavens) through climbing the heights of science and technology. The 1960s were, among other things, an era of boundless popular faith in the efficacy of natural science and its resultant technology. The moon landing no doubt seemed to some mankind's regaining at least a toehold in the Heavens, with much more expected in the future. rgiuffri 12/28/15 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.225.5.244 (talk) 07:07, 28 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
